We had a NYU student as a nanny for our kids when they were younger. It’s a pretty good paying job for a college kid in NYC.
Just don’t schedule any classes between 2-7PM and there are plenty families that will pay $20-25/hr for you to pick their kids up from school to take them home, to practice/activities, and/or do homework.

I don’t see the issue. I did this to pay for LSU.
There is a name for it now. Food insecurity. It's racist, or sexist or foodist or something.

That is nanny cost in FL now. I imagine it is more in NYC.

Just go to a school you can afford.

Nothing is wrong with that advice. But it does grate a bit coming from an organization with a $6,000,000,000 endowment, is exempt from paying income and property taxes, and whose customers borrow unsecured loans from the government to cover the purchase price.

Yeah, IMO this is a story that should be going over what their administrators are getting b/c I guarantee they are getting paid way too fricking much. That and the $6 billion endowment make it a joke that the school costs so much. This is happening everywhere too. They are all acting like corporate CEOs giving themselves big arse raises then jacking up tuition for no good reason.

And worst of all, charges north of $50k a year in tuition.

I didn’t read the article, but I’m confident it’s tone deaf at best. Tuition alone at NYU is almost as much as the median household income. There’s no part time job or cost cutting measure that can overcome that. …even if they changed the school to CUNY, those recommendations would be a stretch.

To say nothing of the costs of materials. What students are charged for books and course materials would make a mob run industry blush. “Look at our amazing library and online catalogues! I said look but do not touch. Everything you need for your courses will cost an additional $3,000 a year. At the end of the year we will buy it back from you for $30.”

$30 is a good price. I was once offered $1 for a $250 poli-sci book. I kept it and used it as a door stop for a few years instead.

Meanwhile, in the time it took me to type out this post, NYU has hired yet another unnecessary administrator

They should be doing both. And lets toss in a third: quit majoring in shitty degrees that will never get you a job.
Do all three, and you'll probably be alright.

The entire system is broken and flush with frauds.

NYU has the most sugar babies of any college.
Maybe that is what they were getting at with "live with a senior citizen".
