NYPD Eliminating Plainclothes Anti-Crime Units in Move Toward More Community Policing

"Thankfully, here in New York City, angry demonstrations have turned peaceful. Thoughtful discussions about reform have emerged," Shea said at a Monday afternoon news conference. "We welcome reform, but we also believe that meaningful reform starts from within."

Calculated move. Crime stats will go through the roof and then the politicians and public will beg NYPD to go back to kicking arse. Only problem is that a bunch of innocent people are going to get robbed, killed and raped in the interim. The issue is that the NYPD is bowing to the demands of the screaming fringe. They need to think about the silent masses.

Communities of color are about to get riddled with criminal activity.
Low level misdemeanor investigations, vice enforcement, and investigatory stops send a message to criminal opportunist that law enforcement is always watching and creates a reasonable fear/deterrent of apprehension.
When the leaders of these communities start preventing these deterrents from occurring, morally corrupt criminals will seize the opportunities. Add in easier access to drug markets and distribution of handguns and you will start seeing Chicago level violence in other cities.

I was called a leftist quack for advocating for this for YEARS. I am against unmarked cars, ghost decals, plain clothes officers and the majority of undercover operations (they almost exclusively go after victimless crimes)

This was a problem before all this started and got worse early on during COVID. shite is about to get really bad, in certain areas of town.
