Only question I have about that is it’s only the last data point that is atypical from the trend, from the week of March 8th, and two weeks before the money flood gate.

I’m not sure why anyone is surprised that the party that consistently said they would do anything to get Trump out of office is acting like this. The curve is flattening quickly and this will end up about on par with the common flu.

It’s not a one to one comparison, but the most recent corona vs flu medial burden assessment from the CDC doesn’t show as dramátic of a drop.

It does show that hospital visits that ended up being diagnosed with the flu almost followed the trend.
Might it simply be that flu was a diagnosis of convienance previously for any moderate to severe upper respiratory infection and this situation is making them take a closer look at anyone with a fever over 100, a cough, and a sore throat (previously established metrics for calling something an ILI)

Many countries were, at least initially, only counting deaths that occurred in hospitals.
Idk about this melt, but I wouldn't exactly be shocked if they haven't gotten around go testing people who croaked at home.

NY is way worse than Cali bc of the population density and reliance on public transit.
Once you enact basic social distancing measures and big event cancellation, it seems that the biggest correlation to spread is people living on top of each other and being forced to use public transit.

The virus gives these people a sense of self righteousness, they have purpose, they’re on a crusade.
