(I'm not sure if they believe the problem as much as they believe the solution which, of course, means that gov't has to nationalize portions of the economy to "save us". At the end of the day, it's all about power and control.
Exactly right. I keep telling people that you can insert whatever needs “fixing” into the slot, it always comes back to money and power.

Neither.
The scam is the significance. You notice we have been talking about climate change for 50 years now and the hyperbolic doomsday predictions just keep getting further and further into the future. Originally it was predicted that by the year 2000 humans would drive half of all species extinct.
Nothing that is occurring isn’t inherently out of line (or even out of trend) with natural variation.
It’s only when appended to these predictions that they are portrayed as ominous.
The problem is that it is based on models which are being put forth at the same level of regard as observational evidence, however there is little there for validation.
Let’s ignore the fact that they don’t make accurate predictions when they are fed old data and asked to “extrapolate” towards the present and see if the predictions matched reality.
Never mind that reproducibility is the hallmark of good science.
