The smell of weed permeating the reception area of my office at 9AM somedays is nauseating.

9AM - you smell like weed and you’re looking for a hand out. Wow.
My wife getting her promotion to ER has provided an endless source of stupid employee stories. Last Thursday's is a contender for the dumbest mf'er of the quarter. They have a no tolerance policy...it's made clear to them when they are onboarded. Manufacturing guy goes out for lunch on his birthday. Dude comes back and everyone near him can tell he's been partaking. End result... Probably not a good idea to wish him a "happy" birthday.

We always took the kids to Florida for a week in late May. In her old supervisory job she got a call while we were sitting in a D&B. A direct report had left for lunch and returned stinking of alcohol and passed out at her desk.

Point being, you can't always account for stupidity. Some people just don't have the minimum skills necessary to be productive members of society. Have at it when it only effects your time. Don't whine about being unemployed if you can't control your vices for 40 hours every week.

I’m a cook, so I mostly deal with the potheads who want to work.

What I was implying I can’t really relate to is feeling unsafe letting my kids play outside because of unemployed people firing guns and covering my neighborhood in reggie smog, like you’ve described dealing with.

my husband is a cook, too

Most days he works double shifts to cover the potheads that don’t want to work - who probably live in my neighborhood

Well I have to go clean up the kitchen front the meatloaf I made that stunk up the neighborhood

It's a mixed bag in my experience. The cooks that want to work are potheads too so they cancel each other out.

False. Wine was much stronger in those days than it is now.

100% without question, false.

They diluted it considerably.

100% true, you dumbass. You even proved me right in your reply.

Why do you think they diluted it? Because it was so strong!

Critical thinking is not your strong suit.

I run a lot. The number of cars that pass by me in the morning that reek of pot is disturbing. The wake and bake phenomenon coupled with driving is weird.

I was visiting someone in the ER at a hospital in Memphis recently, waiting room reeked of weed and people were puking all over the place.

It’s pretty crazy how strong that smell is that it can waft out of a car into another sealed up car running cabin recirculation.

And now the "legalize" progressives hate weed and the NYT are now promoting articles like these. LOLOLO

Beyond predictable.

There's a huge difference between smoking weed all day everyday and smoking a joint to unwind when you get off of work. These two types of people being lumped into the same "daily" category is misleading.

Does the smell of alcohol permeate public spaces the same as skunk weed does? I don’t smell anyone drinking a beer in the parking lot at Tiger stadium. I can smell fern worms from a
Block away. On a windy day.

If everyone switched from smoking it to ingesting it (gummies) would you be OK with it then?

I'm pro legalization, have a medical card, and get it legally.

The ONLY type I get is either an edible or a vape that does not smell like weed. I agree with the people that dislike the smell of bud/leaf in public. I think it is trashy, especially considering you have dozens of other options now to keep it discreet.

I've been pro legalization my entire adult life (I'm 65). I smoke some in college, but not much during my working life.

When they made it legal in Oklahoma, my son got a grow license, but he ended up letting it expire.

I live in a rural area. My best option for grocery shopping is a Walmart Super Center about 10 miles away.

I have walked past people in there who smelled so bad it felt like walking into a solid wall of stench.

I wish people would just switch to gummies, and also not drive while under the influence.

The issue is, the moment someone is ticketed for smoking in public, driving while high, etc., all the people in this thread stating that there are already laws against it would be on here and out in public screeching like Karens about how dare they give tickets for smoking a plant.

so your "issue" is just broad speculation? Got it.

Well, the odds you are going to run into someone that smells like stench in a rural Wal-mart are pretty damn good. Any Wal-mart. So there is that.

Most of the weed problems come from low rent poors and if it wasn't weed it would be something else. These folks stay in trouble.

Not directed at you Tulsa, but the broader thread, its like Reefer Madness up in here. A lot of the replies in this thread are hilarious and I'm sure you would have heard very similar back in the 20's and those days.

which is why I’m happy Louisiana is doing it using the monopoly pharmacy model, even if they fell into it arse backwards. Keep the number of dispensaries limited, keep the price high and keep the “medical” evaluation requirement intact. It works better than unfettered recreational access
