LMAO... well, that's certainly a take!

such a bad take even though there is some truth…but the truth is actually way worse
some younger millennials and genz have already given up on the “American dream” of owning a home, working, retiring so they are yoloing it, eating out more, taking trips, going to concerts (this was also a reaction to Covid lockdowns and lack of freedom for a year or two in their prime high school/college years)

Yep. I’m still lurking on wedding planning forums, and I’ve always been a big defender of nice weddings when it affects your goals zero (and even moreso if dad is paying for it, lol). If you got the money, go for it.
However, tons of users are like, “well I live in an area where the down payment for a home is exponentially more than a nice wedding would ever be, so I’m having the $60k wedding”. And that is just… INSANITY to me. That is not “having the funds to do it”. That’s straight up YOLOing because you decided the economy is against you.
A $60k+ party when you’re renting a small apartment is insane. I don’t care what down payments in your area are.

I’d love to see how much gen z loses betting sports with the rise of gaming apps

The concerts and Starbucks thing is true for my 22 year old. She seems to never have much money but she drinks expensive coffees and teas on the reg and goes to multiple concerts (including out of town trip concerts) several times a year.
I tried to instill fiscal responsibility into her during HS and most of college, but most of it didn’t stick. Hopefully she learns it quickly once she’s in the real world or she’s in for a lot of financial stress.
