An Ashanti Alert, also called a CLEAR Alert, is for missing adults who are too old for an AMBER alert and too young for a Silver Alert. An Ashanti Alert works in a similar manner as an AMBER Alert, but instead of law enforcement notifying the public about a missing or abducted child, it would be an adult aged 18 to 65.
quote:
The law is named after Ashanti Billie, a Maryland native who disappeared from the Hampton Roads, Virginia area back in September 2017. She was suspected to have been abducted but at 19 years old, Billie was too old for an Amber Alert notice, which notifies the nation of child abduction, and too young for a Silver Alert, which helps locate endangered seniors. There was nothing in place to expedite a search for her. Two weeks after she was reported missing, Billie’s body was discovered in North Carolina.

So basically this can only go two ways:
1 - full on manic episode
2 - some really poorly thought out kidnap/abduction money scheme that backfired quickly
Right?
Pretty much, yes.
Someone took a picture of her at 5PM at her work where she was wearing her Apple Watch. The watch was found in her car. By itself that doesn’t mean anything, but realistically who takes their watch off before they get home, and especially one that could be tracked? She meticulously left everything that could be tracked at the car. That doesn’t sound like someone who has had a mental issue. You can try to explain it away saying she didn’t like wearing the watch or something like that, but when everything traceable is left behind it seems premeditated, which is not consistent with a mental break.
I’d assume we are going to get the old ‘family requests privacy’ bit now. Hoover has some good cops. They will piece it together and figure it out.

There was something in her near future she was trying to avoid. Now there’s two things.

Was the sister in law in on it? She said she was on the phone with her and heard her ask someone if they're ok then heard a scream. The whole family being in on it doesn't make much sense to me. They were telling people don't donate to anything but crimestoppers. Maybe some scheme cooked up by her and her brother and nobody else knew about it?

As stated before, maybe the Traffic Camera footage, along with the intense attention the case received, blew up any possible plan to make money. There was a $50,000 reward offered for information in the case within a short space of time, so there was money to be made. Or maybe she was just nuts. Aside from the money angle, I wonder if this wasn't done in an attempt to push the narrative that Black cases aren't publicized as much, and don't receive the police attention they should receive. If that was the reason, then the overwhelming media attention and police emphasis the case received sort of knocked that in the head.

Thanks.
Was truly concerned that in our fricked up society, there was a special alert for missing black women.

I didn't know about the picture, but I found the watch thing a bit odd. I could get an abductor leaving the phone behind, but taking the watch off of her and leaving it in her purse in the car? It would have made more sense had it been found in the grass, especially if the band were broken.
In all honesty, I really hope it was staged. The alternative would be far worse.

Without the video it would have fully appeared to be a kidnapping. She left the trackable stuff behind so she couldn't be traced to where she was hiding out. Left the wig so she would be less recognizable. The family's plan was for a go fund me but nixed it as soon as they saw the unanticipated video.
I mean besides a mental break what other explanation makes sense?

Daily Mail coverage and comments that might be more representative of John Q Public
John Q not being all that attentive.

More than a leased red Mercedes is going for. She needs to at least jailed for a decade and any assets sold to go back towards expenses regarding the search.

1. Our tax dollars fund their shitty department
2. If there is an actual reasonable threat to the community, it’s incumbent on them to notify the public
Use your head.

I’m wondering if that rumor/story about her being at the Red Roof Inn was legit. A family member denied it but then she “returned” home two hours later. On top of that, you have a notorious grifter who just happens to be hanging out in the family’s house the entire time.
This isn’t passing the smell test…..

I posted this several pages back, but to reiterate - I know someone who did exactly this. Wanted to disappear, and for whatever reason, wanted the family to think they were dead.
Does it make logical sense? No - your chances of actually disappearing are a lot better if the whole world doesn’t think you were abducted. But people do weird shite when they have a mental breakdown.
It very well could have been intended as a GFM scam or something, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that she just snapped. It would not be the first time someone tried something like this.

Kudos to ALDOT for having a traffic cam right there. Blew her story to pieces.
It is amazing how many scams and false narratives get blown up due to video. This is why cops LOVE body cams.
Cameras are the kryptonite for dindunuffins.
