She had to have had help…..

It’s the only explanation. Who dropped her off at her house?

I don't know all the details, but on the face of it this seems like another hate crime hoax.

I have no idea if this was the original motive. But I feel confident that now that FunnyMaine is involved it will be soon enough.

Maybe he can make another speech imploring people to burn down Birmingham to avenge racial inequality. That will fix things.

But why not just simply disappear quietly? Take off for Mexico or wherever? Why call attention to yourself

It always felt like a hoax. A young child alone on the side of a busy interstate that no one else besides her saw gave it away. She probably saw some conspiracy theory on Facebook about human traffickers using children to lure women and decided to recreate that. Will be interesting to see if her motive for faking the kidnapping ever comes out

She likely had some mental health issues

She left all of her stuff- phone, wallet, wig, car....and then where did she go? Walked into the woods and stayed there for 2 days? Was she hallucinating? I've never heard of a mental health episode like this if no previous issues.

Well that’s the rub, right? We have no idea whether this woman has had issues in the past or not. And if she has, we still may never find out. I would say the biggest sign would be a history of substance abuse/alcoholism but I wouldn’t necessarily expect that to come to light (at least publicly).

I think when people talk about a mental health episode vs. a planned hoax, it’s really a question of whether this was something she planned on her own (hence underlying mental health issues) or something that was coordinated with certain family members as some sort of scam. The hallucination possibility doesn’t make a lot of sense in context IMHO.

I would like to think I could find my way home without a phone under similar circumstances. I think the most likely answer (outside of being a coordinated hoax) would be that she simply gave up and called a family member, using another phone, to come get her. OR she was recognized and the family got tipped off to her location. I don’t really buy that she just showed up at their front door but it’s also a possibility.

Reading this dudes facebook, looks like he interjected himself into this for attention or gain.

She had to be somewhere for two days. The entire area was looking for her and I doubt she was hiding out in Moss Rock Preserve enduring the elements for two days.

Someone picked her up soon after she left the interstate. Wondering if they took her to the Red Roof Inn a few miles up the road. Something forced her hand and then that someone dropped her off at the house.

I agree. I’ve asked the same question regarding the case I’m personally familiar with and the answer was basically “they wanted the family to think they were dead.”

As I’ve said, it’s not really logical when you think about it. If I had to try to analyze the thought process, I’d say that it goes something like this:
- If the person just disappears without a trace, the family will be looking for them forever.
- If the person disappears under circumstances that make it look really bad, the family will eventually accept that they are dead.

Of course, the latter also means much higher police and media attention which makes it a lot harder to actually disappear.

I see virtually no chance this was mental health.

Why did she call police? How did she get away? Why did everything get left? Why was her car left on?

Mental health people disappear. They just go away quietly usually, they are lost and want space from reality. Mental health issues almost never call police for something like this unless it’s on themselves for potential suicide or on someone they think is hurting them. They don’t call police on some random crime that’s made up in their head to escape.

If she showed up with a mask on, it was planned. No mask? Against her will.

This wasn’t a break down. You don’t call the police and a friend on some made up story, leave a scene on the interstate like a crime scene, and disappear randomly. If she had just parked her car on the side of the interstate and walked away down the interstate, that would be more indicative of a mental health issue.

You argued for like 4 pages about the position of the tree line relative to an exit sign (wrongly, I might add) because you were convinced someone parked a car there for a snatch & grab. You weren’t just saying “we don’t know,” you were refusing to acknowledge facts that contradicted your theory.

Go back and reread my posts then. My argument was that based on that initial shitty traffic cam video, you could not see the median all the way to the tree line. And that based on the news story that said there were a) tire tracks in the grass, and b) a witness saying there was a vehicle there; that it would have been possible for a vehicle to have been there that the camera a mile away didn’t capture. I still stand by all of that.

I mean, in the post you are replying to I literally said:

quote:

I have never said there was a car there. Or wasn’t. Just that we can’t see everything in that traffic cam video.

I am not sure how you could interpret that any other way than me saying I didn’t know. But you clearly did interpret it differently.

No matter what it should tank her Nursing career, I hope.

Who wants a nurse around them that either has severe mental issues or can concoct such a hoax?

and she left behind everything that was traceable.

It’s all starting to add up. Do we even have the media in the state that is capable of asking these questions?
