It would be real simple I bet for her to make this go away and get on with her life.
Confess to the police that she faked it and apologize to them.
Apologize to her former employer and pay back what she stole.
Delete her social media and have her and her family STFU for about six months.

All of that except I believe she will be charged with something. If she handles it correctly right now, she could end up with probation and some restitution and move on as you suggest.

She’s a Borderline, I’m fairly of sure it, after asking my psych friends. Possibly a narcissist. Chances are that any confession and apology will be fake

Yep. This story is becoming less about missing persons, abduction, race and the search. It’s now about wealth and privilege. Carlee seems to have both on her side.

I guess they're just acting like nothing happened or, at least, nothing that would warrant worrying about a warrant.

In my opinion, she deserves everything in the book thrown at her to show every other half baked con artist out there that this won't fly.
This probably cost hundreds or even thousands of man hours searching and investigating.

My wife is a therapist and is on this same line of thinking. May not be to the extent of a borderline diagnosis, but there’s no doubt she exhibits sociopathic and narcissistic behaviors on a high level.
