There is one light that is still on so obviously electricity is still on in this building. I'd be nervous.
That could be an emergency light running on battery power (UPS).

During Katrina a nursing home in Chalmette had several people die in it

Old people generally DGAF
Look at those women. They grew up during the Great Depression, then sent their newlywed husbands off to fight in a war in Europe. 30 inches of water isn't shite to someone like that.

She wasn't crocheting ... after a second look it's a life vest. They were rescued yesterday after the owners daughter put out a plea for help.

shite like this makes me wonder about people.
How did it get to the point where it took waste deep water for them to realize oh shite we need to get these folks out of here.
Honest question. Have you ever experienced a flood?

Can you imagine the outrage if these women were black?

there's really no clever way to do a Germans, so can we just all agree to end this dumb shite?
I feel like the type of person that still does this probably still uses napolean dynamite or austin powers references in his day to day life

The cat in the back looks like it is sitting on someone who is face down in the water
Posted on 8/28/17 at 11:23 am to HubbaBubba
Why didn't the owners evacuate them? I would have taken Amu of my family members out.
Posted on 8/28/17 at 11:26 am to HubbaBubba
Holy shite. I didn't even see the water until reading the thread. WTF wow that is sickening.

Where you gonna take them and how are you going to get them there?
Their O2 tanks and refills, their meds, specialty beds, walkers/wheelchairs/motorized scooters, staff to care for them, dialysis needs, etc??? Its a logistics nightmare.
I bet 25% can't climb the stairs to get on a regular school bus.

My parents are 83 and 80 no way I'd let that happen to them... I would have got them out

Yes it is a logistics nightmare but in a post Katrina world there is no excuse for this.
The owners in Chalmette were charged with several counts of manslaughter because not only did they not have a plan to get out, they repeatedly refused assistance in getting out.
