Your body uses a cycle of building and breaking a chemical bond for energy. ADP>ATP then ATP>ADP and repeat.
Are you referring to the Krebs Cycle?

you're a diabetic smoker with chest pains, but you're worried about the injection for a nuclear stress test?

If they use technetium-99m, it has a 6 hour half life so it decays away really quick. It also has a biological half life of about 24 hours so that will further erode your radiation exposure.
You may want to reduce your time spent near pregnant women and children for a day or so after receiving the isotope.

They can do the test the old school way by putting you on a treadmill and making you run until you drop.
Getting injected is the much easier way to do it.

That's a part of it. ATP and ADP are also used in other processes of the body though.
"The total quantity of ATP in the human body is about 0.2 moles. The majority of ATP is recycled from ADP by the aforementioned processes. Thus, at any given time, the total amount of ATP + ADP remains fairly constant.
The energy used by human cells requires the hydrolysis of 100 to 150 moles of ATP daily, which is around 50 to 75 kg. A human will typically use up his or her body weight of ATP over the course of the day. Each equivalent of ATP is recycled 500-750 times during a single day (100 / 0.2 = 500)."
The Wikipedia on ATP is not bad for a overview on ATP.

You've gotten much more radiation exposure from smoking than you'll get from the test.

What are Polonium-210 and Lead-210? Radioactive materials, like polonium-210 and lead-210 are found naturally in the soil and air. They are also found in the high-phosphate fertilizers that farmers use on their crops. Polonium-210 and lead-210 get into and onto tobacco leaves and remain there even after the tobacco has been processed.
So I wouldn't worry about the test.
eta: Half life of Po-210 is 138 days and half life of Pb-210 is 22.3 years.

That sounds scary AF
The scary part is when a guy comes out in a radio active suit and makes you sign a waver saying you understand this could kill you.

Scheduled for one next week. Due to calf tightness when excersising, I am a smoker and type 2 diabetic
Why are they suggesting a Nuclear over a treadmill? I would try to do the treadmill if there was any physical way possible.

A regular treadmill stress test won’t show any blockage unless you’re above 70%.
Get the test, get additional tests like the LP(a) test, stop smoking, and stop eating the shite you eat. Life as you know it has to end.
Sincerely,
A non diabetic/non smoker with genetic heart disease.

Is there a benefit to having a cardiac CT/Calcium Scoring in addition to. Nuke Stress/Nuke Perfusion?

Nuclear stress test is the best

Absolutely. Also get your carotid arteries checked. That’s how was discovered my issues. I have the LPa gene. It affects one in five people and it can do some damage. It’s hereditary.

Had it years ago. When that drug hits, the heart takes of like crazy, get dizzy because it’s beating so fast it can’t pump much blood to the brain. Lab gives you a caffeinated beverage (coca cola) and the caffeine quickly reverses the effect of the drug. No biggie really.

I had one two weeks ago and I am type 2 also but I don't smoke. To me it felt like something took my breath away but the lady that gave me the shot stood there and talked to me the entire time telling me to just take deep breaths and stay calm. Then they rolled me out into a waiting room and gave me a sandwich and something to drink and I chilled for about an hour.
