It seems to me the academic mind would certainly understand values change dramatically over time and people can't always be judged by the flavor or the day.
We agree. That is precisely what I said. Btw, I am jealous that you get to live in Alaska.

NPR is one of the sacred tenets of SJWs. They melt at any criticism of their little propaganda channel.
There are legit beefs with NPR, but this particular story is a weird place to fight that battle.
Same with the YouTube demonetization thread earlier today.
Much like claiming racism loses it's power when every single thing is labelled racist, so to does blaming every single MSM article on a liberal agenda.

Gandhi is a part of the individualism mindset. He believes one can change one's self. This is NOT what NPR is about and the NPCs cannot have that sort of idea outside of their groupthink.

1) This wasn't even a hit piece.
2) None of these things are new.
Ghandi was a deeply flawed man. Many contemporaries were quite forward about that. But it's man's nature to be both good and bad. It was on him to be a better person. It's on us to learn to be better people not by eschewing the bad and just celebrating the good. But by understanding of being human and succeeding while still have flaws so maybe we just don't repeat the mistkes as much when we reach to succeed.
Like sleeping naked with your grandniece should be a no-brainer.

I've read some stupid shite, but this may take the cake.
How so? His initial political movements were to separate Indians from the Africans, he felt the British racial laws were wrong because it threw Aryan Indians into the same lot as Black Africans in South Africa. It seems pretty easy for that concept in the 21st century to be thought of as racist.
His view on women/sex would also be considered very unique today.
Just because you are unaware of history it doesn't mean it is stupid shite.

Everyone saw NPR in the title and knew it had to be biased, because NPR is some left wing rag in their mind. No one downvoting took time to read the article.

That's anything but a hit piece on Gandhi. Its more about current day political realities and more a hit piece on Hindu Nationalism.

Can’t wait until AA’s are the majority and NPR runs a hit piece on MLK in a similar fashion.
Posted on 10/3/19 at 11:48 am to chryso
If people wanted to, they'd find a lot of shite on MLK as well in regards to sexual behavior.
Just sayin'

This is a probably way to get at Tulsi, who practices Hindu.

The Koch Foundation has been a supporter of public radio and television for years, just to give you some perspective.

What do you assume about a national enquirer article when see it?

I think that is exactly my point. Flying off the handle due to prejudice is ignorant.
NPR does have a slight left leaning, they have acknowledged, but it is so near the center overall. Most who scream it is biased never actually listen.

Why is that?

I'll never understand the motives or demands of some folks.
Whats the point of fighting for racial equality? Is it not to move past racist ideology? So, an example of a man that grew up racist and changed to move beyond racism and fight all discrimination is a bad thing?
And Gandhi himself talked of his failings and weaknesses. I cannot sympathize with someone disappointed that he was human, especially when he already talked about it
