Choptank in Baltimore

quote:

Among the items that are "strictly prohibited"? Excessively baggy clothing ("pants must be worn at the waist, no shorts below the knee"), athletic attire, sports jerseys except on days when one of two Baltimore teams is playing, work and construction boots, and perhaps most baffling, "Brimless Headgear (bandanas, beanies, etc.) Backwards or Sideways Hats (must be worn forward)".

Same as last time, if you can’t follow basic straight forward rules, don’t go.

Only a racist bigot would want people to dress respectfully

And I’m sure everyone in Baltimore calls it a racist policy.

Any place that has a long list of this kind of shite that is banned looks bad, but there are typically events in the past that have made those rules necessary.

Some bars on Third St in BR have a list of about 20 different modes of dress that are banned and a lot of it goes back to what gang members wear and/or other subgroups who cause trouble.

Christ, I know a laser tag place in another city which had to post “no gang colors” due to problems in the past.

Let the free market sort it out. If someone doesn't want to go there, don't go.

As if the folks complaining on Twitter can afford to go there anyway

I will say, there is a much more subtle way to keep out the culcha. Price them out. Effective and PC.

They'll show up, eat the most expensive stuff on the menu, then leave without paying all the while mistreating their server and ruining the dining experience of everybody around them.
