Wouldn't a job that large have security stationed at night, and fire extinguishers scattered around?

What percentage of followers have been raped?

There were 1000 cases in Pennsylvania alone. And those were only the ones that were reported. How does that translate to the rest of the country and the world? It’s at least in the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands. I’m not attacking all Catholics, but the institution from the top down is currently garbage. You’re brushing aside tens of thousands of rapes as if their lives are meaningless.

As a recovering agnostic, I think you are reaching.

Most of the statistics in that article are probably dead today.

I wouldn’t put it past some white leftist “student group”.

Why? There are millions of unstable people around the world thanks to sexual abuse and rape. I know this board is largely Catholic, but this is plausible, at least behind accident and an Islamist doing it. The time of day and the day of it are very suspicious. If this theory is correct, I’m not sure if the person hates Christianity, but absolutely hates the institution. You could get matches and gasoline past those security guards.

Dude, this is just a convenience argument for you defending the Catholic institution. Sure, I believe most of kids raped by Catholic priests are dead, but I think there are hundreds of thousands of them still alive.

The Paris prosecutors' office said late Monday they have ruled out arson in Monday's fire, including possible terror-related motives for starting the blaze. Prosecutors say Paris police will conduct an investigation into "involuntary destruction caused by fire."

How did they rule that out already?

Not defending.

Only looking at people crusading against the church as justification of their opinions.

I don’t see how they can reach such a definitive conclusion so quickly with the surge of recent church vandalism/arsons in the area in recent weeks

I kind of agree with you about the rape stuff, but I really don’t see what it has to do with this building. The artisans that built it 800 years ago had nothing to do with that. It’s as much a shrine to the era and western culture as a whole as it is to Catholicism.

I'd imagine they've got some information we don't?

Mass was being celebrated when the alarms started. People were everywhere. Surely witnesses exist, perhaps workers themselves.

There’s a good chance workers know what happened and told the authorities. Pretty straight forward.

Because they already know who did it and are trying to cover that shite up while they let millions more in their country

Interested in seeing pictures of it in the morning after the fires are out. Hopefully the stonework is still structurally sound enough it can be restored.

You've been around too long to think anything is straightforward around here.

Can't think this is the end of the structure.

It has to do with the institution, not the building itself. The Vatican has far higher security than Notre Dame did. It is the second most prized possession of the Catholic Church. It would be the biggest middle finger to the Catholic Church in its history. I find it much more plausible than a mad man who just wanted to watch a historical monument burn.

I’m not saying I agree with this theory yet, but I find it highly plausible, and the detectives would be retarded not to think of this angle. No one hates the Catholic Church more than the sexually abused.

I get why certain conclusions are popular. That doesn’t make them reasonable conclusions at this time.
