The fact that the masses get to collectively voice their opinions instead of rioting in the streets is important, don't get me wrong. But your individual vote by itself doesn't matter two bits.

If you want your *own* voice to count, skip the voting line and join a campaign instead. Get professionally involved. Or be a "bundler", raising lots of money from big donors. Stuff like that is "trying to do something", just waiting in line to cast one vote is just wasting your time.

I voted 3rd party bc screw the two major party candidates. I actually share a lot of views with one 3rd party candidate in particular and so they champion my views most completely and they are not Trump or Hillary. Win/win

Not voting may not be a result of apathy. It may be a result of disgust.

Can't understand why you would not want to vote.

Have you seen the 3rd party candidates?

Not like they're going to win.

So you're really just voting that party's platform.

It is. And it is the reason I skipped the presidential election and voted down ballet for all races and amendments.

I couldn't vote for either one of those idiots and I don't like anyone from any other party. I've voted all of my adult life, worked my arse off to build a life, family and business and pay much more in local, state and federal taxes than the majority of this country. I've never shirked a civic duty and am a very proud American. I respect everyone's views regardless of whether I agree or not.

I've earned the right to decide whether I want to criticize or not.

If you can't vote for any of the candidates in good conscience you stay home.

Apparently I'll be sitting out the Baton Rouge mayors runoff too with another two idiots in Bodi White and Sharon Broome.

We are doomed.

Voting is like choosing would you rather have explosive diarrhea or be extremely constipated. Both are shite and both suck.

The argument makes a lot more sense on the macro level, not necessarily by individual cases.

The real problem is that people don't seem to want to educate themselves on issues, particularly the ones to be voted on.

Oh, and this argument extends well beyond the presidential election.
