I love the way those stickers say "Keep 500 feet back"

But you have to get within 50 feet to read them.

The aggregate corporate responsibility lies with the concrete company.

Or how you read them as they pass you on the interstate.

Actually Louisiana has an immunity law. If the load is "properly secured", they are NOT liable if a rock still comes out and screws your windshield.

What kind of doublespeak circular logic is that? If a load is properly secured, nothing can come out.

Piss on this state.

The bottom line is, if you don't follow too closely, you are far less likely to have anything hit your vehicle....so do everyone involved a favor and and stay back

Actually you are better off following real close. Then the rock will just bounce up into your undercarriage.

I laugh at the "Stay back 500 ft." As if they own that space. You can't read the sign from 500ft.

Yep and I-10 is the worst for it. I have lost countless windshields between Mobile and New Orleans and it's not just from the trucking companies. So many Baws peel onto the interstate after they just get finished mud riding and sling all kinds of shite.

They are liable. Those stickers mean nothing. However, notice how many dump trucks don't have license plates or any identifying information on the back of the vehicle.

What would be your analysis of their substandard conduct?

Many signs, waivers, forms, contracts, etc. are non-binding and are used to discourage people from filing lawsuits/legal action.

Truth.

In LA, any waiver for personal injury is unenforceable. I always chuckle when I have to sign one for my kids at various places.

I was in a different lane and probably 4 or 5 car lengths behind an 18 wheeler going down 110 South. I saw the goddamn rock getting rocket fired from underneath his tire all the way into my windshield. I mean, not his fault because it was loose road gravel but keeping distance only does so much. I have been hit by more rocks since moving to BR than all my driving time to that point combined.

just because you put up a sign saying you're not responsible that doesn't mean you aren't.

I'm sure all it does is most people will assume they can't do anything which saves the company money.

Well, the no guns allowed on school property stickers haven't worked too well.

This isn't about shite flying out the truck, it's because when they get into a construction zone they may have to stop abruptly or in an area that doesn't usually have traffic stop, so it is to give the car behind ample space to react.

If you can prove the projectile came from the load then they are responsible, if it can't be proven then they won't be held liable, but most just pay up
