Couple nice areas off 21 by Target. West approach area. 22 has a ton in Madisonville.

The OP specifically said wont flood and several areas and neighborhoods around Hwy 22 are and Hwy 21 in a higher risk area.

Luckily most of the home listings will tell you if they are in a good zone though.

Note: I-12 through the north shore will be under construction for the foreseeable future if you’re going to need it to commute. Starting with the stretch between 59 and 190.

Hwy 1088

I've staged many tactical assaults on discarded washing machines out there. Guess that's off the table now.

I was born and raised here. For me I’d say to stay south of I-12, East of the Tchefuncte and west of Hwy 59. If you stay in that range you can avoid the worst of the traffic and still be close to pretty much everything.

I lived in Forest Brook off of 1088 for 10+ years. I would not recommend it until they put a roundabout or some other mitigation on 1088 at Soult.

East of the Causeway if you want bike access to the Trace and you’re South of I-12. Kids can go play on the lakefront, you can head the other direction and pound some beers at Abita.

Hope you find your place. The Northshore is a great place to live and raise kids.

Lived in Slidell for a few years and loved it. No place gets more unwarranted criticism than it on here.
