Or, Louisiana has enough law school already, and i support shutting down SULC and Loyola.
Yes, we do. That’s separate and apart from the question of whether north Louisiana would benefit from a law school.

Not to mention, passing the bar here require reciprocity in other states to practice there, yet we are producing hundreds of lawyer every year.
Rephrase?

Just move SULC to Shreveport. You get a law school in the northern part of the state without adding a 5th law school. Problem solved.

How would you go about closing a private law school?

No. The issue for north Louisiana is that they, on average, don’t move back to north Louisiana.
I'm not sure how much that is a problem that would be solved by a regionally located law school.

The last thing the world needs is another law school to pump out lawyers.

Law students, generally, get clerkships in relative proximity to their law schools, because that's where they currently live. Successful clerkships lead to a significant percentage of post-graduation first jobs for attorneys. A law school in north Louisiana means more clerkships in north Louisiana. More clerkships in north Louisiana means more lawyers in north Louisiana. And while I know people like to parrot that Louisiana has enough attorneys already, that doesn't change the fact that every governmental and public interest legal organization based in north Louisiana that I've ever interacted with has bitched and moaned about how difficult it is for them to attract clerks and recruit hires.

We already have 4 law schools in a poor, losing population, and low population State.
I say you need only one. LSU.
If the other schools want to teach common law so they can leave the State, that’s cool.

Southern already has a start up law school campus in Shreveport, which is why Northwestern can’t get any traction. They think they will draw from the ArkLaTex for students. Why anyone would want the 4th best law school in the state to open a satellite campus is beyond me.
Meanwhile it is super difficult to get any lawyers to go to firms in Alexandria, Monroe or Shreveport, or any small towns. Would this solve it? Prolly not.

I understand how the profession works, brah.
Unfortunately, Shreveport is a nicely laid out city, with actually nice infrastructure and housing stock bones, where nobody seems to want to live anymore. Monroe is, well, Monroe.

Is it your position that having a law school in north Louisiana would net a zero, or nearly zero, increase in the number of law clerks and attorneys who choose to stay in north Louisiana?

Well sure if you keep Gomer in NLa, and don’t expose him to BR or NOLA, he’ll never know what he’s missing.

Didn't know about this. Man that is bleak.

Seabaugh played Genovese like a fiddle to get him to step down off the Supreme Court.
