How incredibly simple minded. The point is that islamic terrorists don't give a shite about the wellbeing of Middle Eastern nations. The Japanese obviously cared a great deal about the wellbeing of their nation. If you just "carpet bomb the entire middle east" you'll not only kill millions of innocent men women and children but you also won't be doing a thing to eliminate the incentive for people to join these groups. In fact you'll just make it worse because the US would look even more like an overbearing dictator.

I love people that only see the world in absolutes. It's either destroy everything or do nothing.

Yes, it's going to take genocide. It's going to take making them stare down the dark abyss of cultural extinction the same we did with Germany and Japan. Sorry if that's to harsh for your liberal sensibilities but it's the truth. To quote General Sherman, we've got to make them "howl". This is the only way it will ever stop.

And again if you don't like my solution, I challenge you to come up with a better solution to ending the flood of Islamic terrorism.
Islamic terrorists kill far more Muslims and residents of the Middle East than they do westerners. We end Islamic terrorism by supporting our allies on the ground against ISIS, who want nothing more than to see them exterminated. We restore stability to the region by empowering our allies, and we undermine the narrative written by ISIS and other radical, anti-western Islamists by resisting the temptation to invade and occupy the Middle East, and by being smarter than you apparently are.

The worst thing we could do, in terms of human cost and long-term strategic outcome, is what you are suggesting. You are mindbogglingly, spectacularly wrong.

I love how being against the genocide of a billion people makes me a liberal

this would be you in 1943....

How incredibly simple minded. The point is that Nazis don't give a shite about the wellbeing of European nations. The Japanese obviously cared a great deal about the wellbeing of their nation. If you just "carpet bomb the entirety of Germany and Japan" you'll not only kill millions of innocent men women and children but you also won't be doing a thing to eliminate the incentive for people to join the Axis. Not really, yes have ongoing military operations ,but it is no where the level that is needed to severely cripple ISIS.
ISIS has lost 40% of their territory since the beginning of 2015 and they are nearly cut off from their only route of resupply thanks to the combined efforts between the US, the international coalition, and the SDF/YPG in Syria.

You're just wrong.

It blows my mind that people are trying to compare the eradication of an ideal in 1943 to present day

One, completely guarding a free nation from immigration is a pretty tall order. Not saying it can't be done, but we'd closer resemble post WWII Germany (the right side) than we'd look like America.

Two, you don't see the humanitarian, and honestly logical, problems with creating more enemies? Your plan seems to be to drop bombs, which create new people that hate us, so we can drop bombs, and then more people will hate us so then we'll have to drop bombs.....

Nothing jumps out at you as a little crazy there?

bullshite. He was referring to having the stomach to fight and kill everyone of them. Certainly not by loving them to death as we see where that is getting us now. But he was also right, its going to take a level of brutality that this pansy generation can't take.

We've been trying your solution for almost 16 years and the problem is 1000x worse now than when we started. What's mind boggling and spectacularly wrong is the notion that we keep trying the same shite over and over and expect any different outcome than what we've seen thus far.

But somehow you know what won't work.

The fact that a Muslim walked into a church and slaughtered a clergy member shows just how quickly this problem is escalating. If this happened at a mosque, there would be no kid gloves but if the past is any indication of the future, these Western govts will do little to nothing in light of this attack. The utter contempt by Western governments for their own people and culture just shows you how twisted the modern PC era has become. There's going to be a backlash, it's going to happen soon, and it's going to be ugly.

The war in Iraq doesn't fit into my strategy at all. Good lord

Iraq should have never been invaded.

I don't think anyone in here is advocating two more useless, horribly managed and horribly costly ground wars in the Middle East. But nice try.

It is, but ISIS needs to see catastrophic losses.

The threading the needle part is where we do enough to make 15 year olds in Muslim ghettos of western Europe go "frick man, ISIS is a sham" without it being so bad that Muslims around the globe decide their entire faith faces an existential threat.

I'm a firm believer in learning the lessons that hairiest teaches us. And we've got two prime examples of what massive, round the clock carpet bombing does to the mindset of people who are your enemy. One is Germany the other is Japan. We bombed them on a level that would make today's snowflakes go insane over. Do they hate us? Are we seeing German or Japanese terrorists attack is today?

That's pretty misleading. Over the last sixteen years we've had two presidents, and a nearly revolving door of secretaries of state, military leaders and allies. We've tried many different strategies against different TYPES of enemies. The only thing new that you're suggesting is an all out attack on Mecca, I guess. With some added genocide and rape thrown in. (I know you didn't explicitly say we should rape, but it was implied by your tone)

Ha Ha, this never will happen. We are too soft.
America is the softest country in the world. We will do nothing and Isis knows this.
