I have to disagree here. I always brought my daughter inside before doing anything else; especially if I was dealing with her by myself. There's a couple of things to consider here:
-Its hot as frick outside, so you certainly don't want to turn the car off and leave the baby without A/C
-So you leave the baby unattended in a running car, which is just asking for someone to steal it (I don't care where you live, and how often carjackings happen; I'm sure Mollie Tibbets felt really safe running by herself in her country town. Bad things happen everywhere)
-If your baby is in the car, then your baby is in a car seat. It is not that difficult to take the car seat out of the car and put it in the house.
-Leave the baby in the car seat inside the house. If she starts crying, either immediately console her, or wait to finish bringing in the groceries then console her. A couple of moments of crying isn't going to hurt her.
-If leaving the baby in the car seat isn't a viable option, then hold the baby while doing whatever it is you're doing. It may take longer, but are you really in that much of a hurry?

If we're really talking statistical "dangers", though, they were infinitely higher for the kid when you were actually driving the car with them in it, you realize, then parked in your driveway?
Yeah but that isn’t the discussion. I think the statistical danger of leaving your sleeping kid in a car, rather than bringing it to its crib, is higher. Not sure how you could argue that.
Not trying to judge anyone, I don’t think it’s that big of deal for a responsible person that has there eye on them. But that is clearly not always the case as per the OP.
Letting a baby sleep is for your benefit, not theirs. Babies sleep whenever the hell they want.

Yeah I agree with all of that.

there were times on a nice day, that if my kid was sleeping, I'd roll the window down and let them sleep, while I sat on the front porch. I guess that was a horrible risk.
Not really the same as being inside putting away groceries if you're on the porch watching the kid

That was after putting the groceries away, though.

How many kids you have?
I have 4. Take the damned baby in the house first.

Idiots. Tron would have bought that baby straight cash.
