NEW ORLEANS - Police say two teenagers have been arrested after a mother was carjacked at gunpoint in broad daylight and ordered to take her baby out of her car.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the carjacking reportedly happened just before noon Thursday in the 4800 block of Gilbert Street in New Orleans East. A mother said she left her sleeping baby in her car while she made several trips to and from her house to unload luggage. The mom said she returned to her car and saw a man sitting inside.

I lost all mine by leaving them in the car. My luggage was more important.

If you think that was the priority here, it tells me how many you have.

Is your kid not always the first thing you bring into the house?

If they wake up while your carrying them then you can't bring anything else in the house. because they will need your full attention. I always bring in the cold stuff first then the kiddo's. The rest can sit in the truck till nap time.

No, a sleeping child is not the first thing I move out of a vehicle if i need to make several trips to and from the car. That allows me more actual "eyes on baby" time while completing my task and minimizes the chance of waking the baby which would require more attention. I also don't live somewhere where carjackings happen in front of my house.

This is the key here. I'll take my groceries in before my kid, but I live in Collierville, TN, if I lived in Memphis I would definitely take my kid in first

Can't believe they didn't kill the baby.

Those "teens" are just misunderstood and oppressed by white privilege.

they didn't want to add kidnapping charge, which is a federal charge....

EDIT: remember, these are teens on their way to college and seminary school. They just needed a ride to get there....
