When people have JOBS they tend not to commit crime. One of the impacts of this economy on the New Orleans crime scene right now. If the economy crashes and unemployment rises then the crime & murder rate will skyrocket up again.

Unlike past superintendents, he always struck me as a good guy for the most part who really did give a shite about curbing crime in NOLA. Also seemed like he was in way over his head and not very well qualified.

I think that is exactly right. I think he tried hard. He seemed to have the respect of the rank and file. But he was in no way qualified to run the department. Not that running this department is in any way easy, mind you.

He also was hired by a previous mayor, and the current mayor tried to hire goddamn Eddie Compass to be a new boss for him. That could not have sat well with him.

Baltimore, for their part, gets a guy who knows how to deal with consent decrees.

I had no idea he was only 47.
