Ok, so it's not worth the hassle for the police but we'll make the tax-payers deal with it in a much worse way by letting these uninsured assholes continue to drive around.
I'm sure she paid that ticket too

It's correct, it just happens at the jail instead of in the police unit.
What the hell kind of deflection is this shite?
Uh, that's what the jail is for? Jail officers are sitting around the jail whether there's 3 thugs or 300 thugs in the tank.

This has actually been practice fora while, unfortunately.

Lol. No it isn’t.
Warrants are “confirmed” meaning the agency contacted and they either say yes they are still wanted or no they aren’t, before anyone is brought to jail.
The responsible agency also has 45min to respond or its assumed the warrant isn’t good and everyone moves on.

Speed Van caught me on River Road last week.. fricking bastards

I can't tell if you're arguing JP catch and release or NCIC /ARMMS verification, but you aren't correct on either point.
ETA: back to subject, this change is a good thing. All municipal offenses and underlying warrants should be officer discretion on summons or arrest.

n the vast majority of cases, the other parishes would take hours to pick up the phone, have someone run the warrant, then eventually say they weren’t coming to get them. All while the officer sits around.
This is complete BS. No patrol officer sits around for hours waiting for another parish to come pick someone up from the jail.

I was pulled over a while ago by NOPD, and they had me in the system as having a bench warrant from JP. They most definitely called JPSO to confirm my warrant before taking me in. Turns out, the NOPD system was wrong, and I never had a warrant.
That all happened with me sitting on the side of the road in the back of a cop car

I could see someone making a point behind the expired license, as long as it's not an insane length of time that's it's expired, but the suspended and revoked are a different story.

I bet Livingston Parish has more folks driving around with expired drivers license than Orleans...
Posted on 7/28/18 at 10:17 pm to chinese58
Good. It makes joe public no more safe by jailing people for these infractions

New Orleans council ends auto arrests for expired, suspended driver's licenses
Why even waist time pulling them over? frick it, just let them go.

NCIC /ARMMS verification
Lol, one of these things is not like the others.

It's not deflection. The jail Mitch and guidry insisted on capping doesn't fit all the inmates it needs to. Those guys at OPP fight bed for bed all day long and end up shipping pretrial inmates to North LA constantly to make space.
You don't need to make space for arrestees that don't move beyond primary booking.
Someone booked on suspension/expiration of a DL is booked and bailed long before they go to general population.
