Yea, there are conventions here right now.
You have any idea the kind of planning and logistics that goes into a convention?
Conventions won't change for months. Now, if New Orleans keeps up with tourists getting popped weekly, things will change, and companies and event promoters will demand a safer environment.
Additionally, some embassies in the US do warn their citizens against visiting New Orleans when they come to the country due to violent crime.

My fraternity has done a NOLA formal every year for over a decade. Too many people didn't feel comfortable sending a bunch of drunk arse freshmen and sophomores onto the streets of NOLA, so they'll be moving it to the beach this year.
It's not who's canceling, it's who is sending their business elsewhere.

in New Orleans black people are demonstrably more violent than white people
This isn't unique to New Orleans.
Black people are, for multiple reasons, more violent than white people everywhere.
In New Orleans it's exacerbated by a lazy, disinterested local government and a target-rich, tourist heavy economy.
And we're only speaking of issues that are on the surface and easily seen. I'd be willing to bet New Orleans is one of the best cities worldwide for human traffickers to practice their trade in.

sorry I didn't specify.... we need to not make criminals out of everyone....but ANY violent offense needs to be dealt with roughly.... I'd advocate for 20 years no parole for illegal handguns. Life w/o for armed robbery and such
To put that many violent offenders in jail for that long would require decriminalizing a lot of drug offenses. This is still Louisiana, and drugs will never be decriminalized.

New Orleans is a city without barriers to entry for a number of things
illegal activity and violent crime chief among them
it's easy to live there
it's easy to move around
it's easy to stay unnoticed
it's easy to be a predator

The victim should have had his head on a swivel. It's his own fault.

There is a tax conference every year in NOLA that our firm attends that we are not attending this year strictly due to the violence and Mitch

My wife goes to New Orleans with a bunch of ladies who run marathons.
I send her every OT link about N.O. Crime. Her first response is why isn't this on the news, like Chicago?
Her second response? Hell no I'm not ever going back. Her bunch decided on Savannah from now on.
It's not just my wife. I know many Alabamians and TN folk that will never go back.
Thanks lawless shiftless self aggrandizing overbreeders. You won't hurt my wife. Hope y'all rot in hell along with every politician that covers up your behavior.

Nobody gives a shite about your wife and her friends marathoning in New Orleans
And anyone who has the mentality that they will never go back isn't someone worth caring about anyway

government has rankled officials in several United States cities in recent days with a travel advisory for French citizens about crime risks while visiting the U.S., and New Orleans gets a prominent entry. The French Consul General in New Orleans provided a translation of the message about the city from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It advises visitors to the French Quarter not to venture beyond Dauphine Street or Ursulines Avenue and visitors to the Garden District to stay between Magazine Street and St. Charles Avenue.

Listen transplant- we get it you moved to New Orleans after college, you're a hardass, you're from Lafayette so you're basically a local and know all there is to know about about the city.
