This is the new cryptocurrency. I might buy some sports NFT for sports. The prices are insane.

Christie's auction house sold its first purely digital artwork Thursday for a record $69 million, the highest price paid for an NFT, or nonfungible token.

fungible

As many times as I've tried I never can use that correctly in a sentence. Well done (assuming you have used it correctly here).

I don't understand any of that 40 page thread on the MSB. I feel like it's a bunch of young guys LARPing over their fake investment.

That's some serious money laundering

Probably don't even have to pay taxes.

I'm becoming convinced this new digital crap has to be some form of money laundering. Tweets, digital art? Come on. How on Earth is that a commodity.

I would only deal in fungible tokens.

It's amazing how central to our culture elaborate forms of masturbation have become.

Me too, and while I think I "get" it... it's not something I have much interest in.

Maybe, but it could also just be the natural evolution of collecting as a hobby. People collect all kinds of things art, sports cards, coins, etc. Why wouldn't collecting move into the digital realm? Everyone does everything on their phone. It seems natural to me for it to move that direction.

I'm ok with the boomers sitting this one out. They just ruin the market anyway

This is a new ploy to get young idiots to buy into this bullshite so the big dogs can use this for it's intended purpose - money laundering.

I don't think so. In my practice, I deal with intangible properties all the time. Someone buys an artwork and then licenses the digital image for use. NFT's, however, seem very speculative at the higher end.

At the lower end, not so much.
