Nominate your least favorite intersection for a LiDAR sensor upgrade

Submit your least favorite intersection HERE
- Lots of wrecks?
- arrows that give greens with no cars turning?
- just staring at other cars while no one moves?
- unsafe pedestrian or bike crossing?
I nominated Old Hammond at Chevelle.
It's a reliable 60 second wait heading toward Town Center, even with zero cars coming out of Chevelle.
More info:
- They just announced 30 new LiDAR intersections in Atlanta, largely because of FIFA.
- They've completed 120 intersections in Chattanooga, and quite a few in Nashville.
- And they have a significant presence around Salt Lake City.

Interstate off ramp at Highland (also the one at Hwy 73)
No pedestrians, but if they can fix that, they have skills

What a horrible nomination.
1. It's legitimately a "dumb" intersection. It's based on timers that never change.
2. Making it better would be easy.
In other words, I don't know how much good it would do to "fix" college and perkins by itself.
You'd have to probably change 10-15 surrounding intersections for that one to improve.

Hwy 73/621/I-10 in Dutchtown. Bonus if it includes both interstate off/on ramps and C. Braud Rd. and Eads Rd. That is all an irreplacable cluster frick and should be studied for poor planning.

Oh, they've studied it and made the decision to put in a traffic circle at 621 and another at C. Braud.

Oh you mean the existing infrastructure couldn’t accommodate the extra 7 subdivisions, new school, new hospital & 3 strip malls? Color me shocked. Start showing up to your council meetings and force them to stop building until infrastructure is in place that can handle the volume.

How about don't ride a fricking bike or walk across major intersections in Baton Rouge. I'm not anti bike or walk either, but BR ain't the place for it.
It would be a waste of money to invest in anything that takes pedestrians into consideration at the major intersections that need a makeover in this city.
Just yesterday some shirtless crackhead was riding a bike down Siegen Lane. fricking idiot. Should be arrested for doing something so stupid. I could care less about his life, but he's endangering lives of the people in cars b/c he's tryign to ride a fricking bike on a 6 lane highway of people flying down in cars and having to slow down and get over to pass his dumbass up.

That circle is right on somebody's house. Why dont they put an exit at Hwy 74?

There are over 300,000 intersections in the US.
It doesn't have to be a major intersection to be made better and safer.

Just put one slap in the middle of the Basin Bridge.

No room now. They should've done that 10 years ago before they built that apartment complex.
There should also be at least an on ramp at the Bluff overpass. Plenty of land behind the church. That would eliminate 90% of morning traffic at the Highland/I-10 intersection. An off ramp coming from Baton Rouge would help at Highland also.

Any of them really. Ever since they reprogrammed them a couple years ago it seems like most of them around BR are far less efficient than they used to be (and they used to be bad too).
But the I-10 exit at 73 is pretty hilariously bad. There is no way traffic should back for literal miles on the interstate to get off at a normal exit at non-busy times of the day (or any times honestly).

and another at C. Braud
Incorrect...there wil be a roundabout on LA 73 south of C Braud with a new east west route that will connect Bluff and 73...C Braud will have the signals removed and become right-in right out..

Take the signal down is the correct answer. Put a stop sign on Chevelle and disconnect the power.

You a city council member or something? that's the kind of bullshite they'll say. That's how we get a new bridge in St. Francisville instead of in Baton Rouge where's it's actually needed.
"hey look, i made the light at Perkins and Wimbledon as well as the light at Perkins and Pollard better and safer by spending $30k each on new a new fancy traffic signal that cost $30k/yr to maintain and process and data"
"but so and so council member, the light at Essen and Perkins is a cluster frick from every direction, why not fix that one? No one was complaining about those two intersections."
"well that one would have cost us twice as much in install and maintain annually, and that wasn't in the budget."
"but so and so council member, your math doesn't make sense."
"It works perfectly fine in politics peasant."

Yes. I was attempting to keep it simple in order to show there would be roundabouts on both the north and south side of I-10.
Posted on 4/27/26 at 3:47 pm to Shexter
There won’t be one on the south side of I-10. They are moving 621 further away from the interstate and the roundabout will be located on 621.
