Chi-Chi’s in Kenner seemed like a sprawling building to me as as kid.
The back of a New Orleans Breakers ticket stub was a coupon for a free margarita. After the game we'd ask everyone in our section to pass over their ticket stubs and go to Chi-Chi's. For some reason they didn't limit how many you could use so they'd just bring out pitchers of margaritas.
The day after was always baaaad.

When I was a kid, you weren't cool unless you had a birthday party at Putt Putt. Which is probably why my mom always had my birthday parties at home.

I remember getting Jazz tickets for $1 at Shoe Town.
They were upper deck tickets in the Dome with shitty views. However, it was super easy to move down to the floor after the game started. It was a long walk from the court back to the players' locker room, and they let fans stand down there during the entire walk to get autographs. I had a bunch of Jazz game programs that were filled with autographs. I remember getting Dave Cowens, John Havlicek, Jo Jo White, etc. when the Jazz played the Celtics at the Dome. It was definitely a different time and the players were much more friendly and available to the fans.

Going to the Hummingbird Cafe for breakfast. It was a flophouse, with degens working there. the food was great, plentiful, and cheap.
My dad was a Nola Cop and loved the Hummingbird. That was one of the few places where when a cop walked in to eat, the staff made sure no one bothered them. My mom would take us there to meet him on his "lunch break" which on his shift was always around dinner time. I always remember that dark, dingy place with great food!

Is this in that weird mall on Judge Perez simply called, "The Mall"?
Grew up in Chalmette from the late 70s to the late 90s. We didn't call anything "The Mall" unless we were referring to the Plaza Mall out in the East.
We had "The Square" which was a strip mall named The Village Square. The cinema was in another strip mall right across the street from the Village Square, on the same side of Judge Perez as the old Schwegmanns, about 2 blocks down the street. As another poster said, the old Woolworths was in the same strip as the cinema and later became a PepBoys.

The sitting duck....great memories and best bar t-shirt ever.
Back when you could legally drink at 18, we convinced our senior AP English teacher to take us to lunch there after a morning function at Tulane.
I can still remember her face when some of us stepped up to the bar and the bartender knew us. CSB.

It was a WOOLCO, not a Woolworths.
They later built a K-Mart down Judge Perez near the McDonald's.
My grandma was a big fan of both.
She would also take us to the Schwegmann's store right across the canal from the Chalmette cinema. Every time we went there, she would buy my brother and I some turtles from the McKenzies bakery that was in the store.

C list? I took pics with Daisy Duke and Todd Bridges in their heyday.

Putt Putt golf was legit. It did not last long after celebration station opened but I loved it so much more
When I was in Kidcam we use to take field trips there and we could minigolf for free and play all the arcade games for free

Lakeview Coconut beach will never be beat. We would occasionally walk over to Jaeger's after for a bucket of beer and some oysters
I went to the one on clearview a handful of times, but you quickly learn location made all the difference in the world

$2 for a movie was definitely a bargain back then. That's equal to paying about $5 today, but tickets cost nearly 3x that.

One of the buildings was an old church. I believe these were owned by a doctor who had his office in a little building on site as well.
1st, I remember seeing the rerelease of Gone with the Wind in that theater. It was kind of awesome.
Secondly, my pediatrician, Dr. Johnson, had offices in that lot...so maybe it was him that owned those. Literally the first I've ever heard that.
