NOLA waterbill

Just got a $600 waterbill saying I used 31k gallons of water in a month in Nola. How hard of a process is it going to be to dispute this shite? I would be living in a lake if there was a leak

SWB of New Orleans has serious issues with their billing. It is well documented in the local newspapers, and they are well aware of it themselves. Call them, and they will probably tell you just to pay whatever the "normal amount" usually is. I doubt you'll get push back.

People had posted about this before saying it's a nightmare to get them to fix that. Good luck.

If you have a pool or a sprinkler system, do not tell them that.

They probably haven’t read your meter in years. Time to catch up!

You must never watch the local news. 600 is cheap. Pray for yourself. While Mitch brought the statues down he ignored the REAL problems of New Orleans.

Go read your meter and take a picture. See if it closely matches your bill They probably misread a number but that does not create a news worthy story.

I’ve still got a $5k waterbill that’s been in dispute since December. They said they’d it would be resolved about 9 months ago. Easily the most corrupt, inept, and lazy utility department in the country.

Seriously do not pay it. Either change the name on your bill and it’ll go away, or never pay and when they come turn it off go to Home Depot, get a wrench, and manually turn your water back on. They won’t come back and your bill will be normal. It’s easy to do especially since the system they use for water is 150 years old.

Dispute it. Anything you do in writing CC your council person(s) and their respective constituent services people.
They’ve been talking about shutting off water again for non payment but not sure how aggressively if in dispute. It’s swb so there’s no applying common sense or logic in predicting their next steps. I would not pay though.

Can’t stress using the council people and their staffs for this. It’s pretty much the only way I’ve seen consistent success in a timely manner. I’m district B and it’s one thing I’ll give Latoya and her team a ton of credit on... haven’t had as many issues around the neighborhood to be able to comment on jay.

Well I live in a small apartment with 1 bathroom, use dishwasher 1-2 times a week. Washer about 2-3 times a week. So not fricking close to 31k gallons smartass

Pay it. It is worth the price to know you will help Mitch take down another statue
