NOCC requires a larger and stiffer stick up one's arse.

I have been to both often and Metairie is a bit less formal. Anyone can get in easier unlike NOCC. Neither is impossible but MCC is more accessible.

I have never joined because I do not play golf, have a pool and would rather eat out at other restaurants. That being said, I can understand the comfort some feel with a club presence.

NOLA is where the people with real money are

MCC has money, but not nearly as much as they’d like you to think they have.

I haven't played at Audubon in years, but when I lived in NOLA I loved it. Not super nice but very quick to play. I would go at twilight times and play 18 holes in a little over 2 hours.

You join one when you can’t get into the other. Pretty easy to understand.

And both courses are better than anything else in the city.

NOCC doesn’t allow blacks and MCC does

MCC might, but that doesn't mean many are out there

I worked there for a little while in college and worked every day during the week, I could probably count the amount of blacks I saw on one hand.

As far as the golf goes, MCC is one of my favorite course I have gotten to play since the renovation.

it is really nice but gets old hitting good shots that roll off of elevated greens

i sucked from 100-150 so that course eats me alive

Oh this is delicious bait

Problem is you posted it on a Friday. A sunny Friday.

The real ones are on the course and will get back to you after a cocktail or two post-round

My dad's portrait is on the wall of The Men's Grill as a past president of NOCC. I'm not a member, but my sister is.

You're slipping a little bit. Some of this information must remain in the vault!

A bit off topic, but I was a lifeguard at NOCC around 1979. The Mannings were members there, and little Cooper and Peyton were running around the pool deck a little to fast. I blew my whistle and yelled "slow down" pretty loudly. Archie came bolting out of this chair and I thought that he was going to dress me down for yelling at his kids. Instead he said "excuse my, sir, I'll take care of this". I was a snot nosed 20 yr old and he called me sir. He then had them do push up in the corner until they were almost crying. What a great family.

Not really addressing the topic, but a friend of mine's daughter (no pics) worked at NOCC while in college and said that they treated her well and were very nice to her. I was pleasantly surprised because I always assumed that they would be a bunch of snotty pricks.

Country Clubs are like ‘tribes.’ Social organizations, adult fraternities if you will. People want to ‘belong’ and have ‘status.’ It’s justified as entertainment, tennis, golf, pool, social, for the kids, etc.

Wives like the social, snobbery, etc. Men like the networking.

I’m a member of neither, but you are mostly off base. They belong to these places so they can go somewhere nice and not have undesirable people around.
