I've made it clear to my 8-year-old that if this happens, consider this a Christmas and birthday present from mom and dad.

What the frick is it with parents these days. Sometimes you just have to tell the entitled little brats – NO.
To even think about spending $2k for front row seats, much less nosebleed seats, is completely fricking insane. If the vast majority of parents didn’t spoil their little bastards as much as they do, then you wouldn’t have this fricking problem. They also wouldn’t be fricking entitled their entire fricking life.

I may have said it before in this thread, or maybe I didn't, but it seems as if Taylor isn't charging nearly enough for her concert tickets. She's leaving way too much meat on the bone, and it is causing this issue with secondary market tickets.

The two tickets are going to be around 4500 all in.
I wouldn’t pay that to see a resurrected Elvis with a band that included resurrected Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison and Keith Moon.

The OT is a fickle place.
Thread about looking for a car under $30k? You’re poor and probably fat.
Thread about how insane home prices are these days? Stop buying lattes from Starbucks and you’re fat.
Taylor Swift tickets? How fricking dumb are people to spend that much on a one night event? I mean, I can totally afford it and then some, but I’m not because I’m not a moron!
LSU to a national championship? Dick measuring contest for who has the best seats and what they paid for them! And I can bench 400.

And these same parents dropping $5k on Taylor Swift tix will be along shortly to whine about the cost of houses, daycare, student loans etc etc.

You're an idiot if you spend 5k just on tickets to see taylor fricking swift. I don't care if you're a millionaire.

I think gotta do it now man. You will learn from this. They will have a blast and you will get all the glory.
If you had any idea you would not follow through with it you should never have told the little one. She will get her heart broken. Is probably telling all her friends at school she is going. Her friends are probably going (some of them).
You gotta get them if you can do it budget wise.
Don’t do it if you cannot afford it. That can also be a good lesson and you can find a way to make it up some the road.

Is it not even a thought that not every kids is an entitled little brat? That for some people, a couple thousand dollars isn't that big of a deal?
There are plenty of families with kids that make good grades, work hard, are respectful, leaders in their pier groups with parents that do well financially, have no car notes and spend more on experiences than material.
No need to judge everyone else, their choices and their kid based on your circumstances.

I was a freshman for the 03 title game and did not win the student ticket lottery. In 07 I was a 5th year senior and it had gone to a priority point system and I got 2 tickets for a total of $350 in the student section. Missed the 11 game but was not missing 19. Paid $1000 to sit in the 600 level. It was worth it to me. And it was amazing. All this to say I guess I can’t judge my wife and daughter for wanting to go. Just get the credit card out and let it go.
I was a student for the 2011 game, that sucked, but I paid $175 for that ticket. 2007 I think I paid $750 (which is a lot for working a part time job in high school). I got face value 2019 tickets from LSU, sat in the uppers, and paid $475 per.

my wife paid $800/ticket for her and my daughter to go... this was about 8-9 months back though

just buy tickets Sunday around Noon for the Sunday night show. I'd be shocked if you can't get in for $500 or less.
