I haven’t been in over a decade, but I always appreciated being able to get in and out of the airport pretty easily.

The smooth pavement of the Bestbank Expressway in Algiers.

Eta. Apologies. Algiers isn't NOLA, but Orleans Parish. I take it back.

Etaa. Apologies. I have been reproved to my earlier post that Algiers is indeed part of NOLA. I put it back.

It's can be one of the best cities to visit in America. Unfortunately, the lack of intellectual people who have always pulled side (D) in the voting booths will never change. They look at the party, and not the issues at hand. Can anyone honestly tell me taking down statues solves problems? How crappy did the removal of PGT in front of City Park look ? Did that "improve" the problems within the city? Absolutely not. Mitch did it to appease his black voting base by pulling the race card, feeding them, and keeping them in check. Rinse, and repeat. Its been happening for a VERY long time. I hate to day this, but another (won't say Katrina) situation needs to happen, in order to get the city back on track. Get the city, and its citizens to get along. NOLA was great when IV was cleaning/sanitizing. It had a different smell, a positive vibe to it. Bars and restaurants were packed. People of all races, genders were having a good time and getting along. That's what I miss. Right now, it's beyond repair. City Hall talks the talk, but does not back it up. Latoya could be easily removed if City Hall had any sort of stones. They're all in the take as well. If anyone believes Moreno would be different needs an immediate brain scan. She's nothing but a communist.

Tad Gormley Stadium is a nice setting for high school football although it needs a major renovation and seats too far away because of the track

Crescent City Classic

Lots of good steakhouses for a city known for different types of food

Streetcars

Upgrades to Convention Center

Mitch was worst mayor in city’s history he could have done good things but was selfish
Most cities even in Succesful Metros are liberal but their Suburbs are much nicer and take leadership roles

We need JP and St Tammany to step up and take over leadership of metro area. St Tammany looks like they are starting to but JP is too lazy and passive and corrupt as well. Despot all of that there are still alot of good things going on. I am not the biggest fan of Landry but his willingness to tackle crime in NOLA is a big deal. If you make city safer despite its other issues investments will flow and perception improve Crime ia definitely down in last 6 mos let see if it continues with State Police ramping up. The criminals are actually being chased and caught now !

Six of your items involve leaving the city
quote:

Beaches less than 4 hrs away
Convenient upgraded airport with a decent amount of direct flights especially for size of the city
60 minute drive to LSU sports
Easy to take a cruise from if you want don’t have to fly to Miami
Easy access to hunting and fishing

Anyone that has traveled extensively will tell you that New Orleans is a unique destination.
New Orleans' hospitality, architecture, and food experiences are like no other.
Truly, a wonderful place to visit.

Now, living there and working there?

No, of course not.

How can this thread go almost two pages and no mention of the music? We’ve got more talent in our jazz band at church than most states have in their entire population.

Maybe Nagin first term before he flipped out otherwise none that I can think of but Mitch is one who destroyed NOPD and the SWB. As horrible as current mayor is hard for me to say she is worse than Mitch.

That's hard to argue against. I don't know why the city doesn't use that in tourism advertising.

Was coming here for this. Without looking it up I'm thinking the Beatles? Maybe if I'm remembering...
