All of these carjacking's they usually find the car hours later. Why are they taking the car if not to bring it to a chop shop for profit etc.? I don't get it?

Joyride
Transportation to where they need to go
Dig through them looking for valuables
Use them for other crimes

Purse, wallet, cell phone, prescription drugs, anything in the car worth a Buck. Instant getaway.

All of this.
It used to be hard criminals using them for other crimes. Now they are reporting that it is kind of fad for the 13-16 yr olds to just go joyriding.
It’s literally become just a trend to be cool and do something illegal. It’s crazy.

Not easy to steel new cars because of the chips in the key fob. So in order to steal a car, you need the key. Easiest way to do that is carjack someone.

Street leadership training - Demonstrating leadership mindset and behaviors that will one day payoff for them. I assumed some were gang initiation related. Others are copy cats. Few value life. That alone is a leadership red flag. C-Suite potential is questionable.

To kill 70+ Year old ladies by ripping their arms off?
ETA: They are all animals with no regard to how precious life is and it all starts at home.

They use the car to commit a crime and then dump it.
