Friend of mine has 1300 s/f house in Lakeview, it jumped from $225,000 to $407,000

So he is looking at annual property taxes of $3,175, correct?

Why doesn't Errol's chart show any places with 80% jumps, though? Looks like he tops out at 3.241 (was he trying to get to Pi???)

That's 324.1%, bubba--not 3.24%. Yikes.

Chart says "percent change."

I don't know. It's got me at orange, and I haven't seen the bill yet. We will see, I guess.

His assessment may have already been increased. Look at his tax assessment on the website.

Milages are supposed to roll back so that you don't see a $ increase.

The last few times Errol has jammed everyone, the city council rolled the milages forward so they could collect more money.

Also, Errol is out of line by not limiting his reassessments to a quadrennial re-assessment. He likes to frick a smaller number of people every year to keep the outrage down.

The city council could stop the $ increase. They won't.

My friend in the Bywater got a notice that her property is going to be assessed at 400k. It's a small double. It's been listed at 300k for almost a year. I wonder if Erroll wants to buy it from her.

Link? Wonder why is it not selling

He did it on a square foot basis. Some appraised values are about to double.

The chart is representing the percentages as a whole number. So if the chart says 1.0 that means 100% increase.

You can click on the link that says "Source" at the bottom of the legend and it takes you to the actual data table that shows the 2015 price/sq. ft. they were using in assessments and the 2019 price/sq. ft. You can find your neighborhood this way. You can tell they are calculating the percent change as ((2019 $ per sq ft/2015 $ sq ft)-1), but they forgot to multiply by 100 to correctly display it as a percentage.

How's that, unless you have changed square footage?

Chart don't make no sense.

Well that's completely contradictory. It should be one or the other.

For the record, I'm not trying to suggest this whole thing isn't completely jacked up. It just doesn't make any sense as read, if the taxes are really going up as people describe.

That's what you get from the City of New Orleans.

You can go look at the data and verify what I'm saying is correct. The orange shaded areas indicate the price/sq ft used to assess the houses increased by 25-50%.
