I was in NOLA recently and received in the mail a "Notice of Violation" for running a light in a lightly travelled intersection in Uptown.

I'm in Nola a couple of times a year and typically I'm a rule follower. The amount due is a bit steep.

So....advise me. Pay or ignore.

If you plan on going back to New Orleans, which it seems like you do, then pay it.

Ignore.
The day you get the boot notice, simply go to a title place and decide that you'd like a different license plate for your vehicle.

The system nola uses is attached to the plate not the vin.

New plate, clean slate.

What "lightly travelled" intersection in Uptown New Orleans has a traffic light?

The cheapest "fine" is $110.
Much more than a LSU, or whatever plate for the car.

Don't pay, but don't park on the street in NOLA from now on.

I just don't get what that qualifier has to do with anything, and I was genuinely curious where this was and why he would choose to include it.

And I LOATHE traffic camera ticketing.

I didn’t know you could be booted for red light cameras

actually, those fat arse meter maid bitches will come on private property (ie surface lots in the CBD) to ticket and boot your car if they can get to it. I have outstanding red light and speed camera tickets there, and only use elevated private garages when I visit, and then Uber everywhere I need to go.

I've gotten one of those in a rental. I've been back since. Nothing has changed and rental company never mentioned it.

Thats an awful lot of faith to give an incompetent city govt. For all we know they simply randomly ticket people and wait for them to pay regardless of guilt.

Its a huge scam.

Eta:randomly, not radomly

It doesn't seem like the OP is arguing he DIDN'T run the red light, though.

The only repercussion is getting booted if you park on the street. If you only return a couple times a year, seems it would be cheaper to just park in a lot instead of paying the camera tax.

I work for the city and have 11 photo violations over the last 10 years and refuse to pay them. They can’t do anything to you.

I guess the bar to convince me the City of New Orleans isnt always lying is extraordinarily high for me .

This is the same city govt that claimed "healing" would happen after the statues, that the flooding last year happened because of pump "fires" and the same one that loses potable water frequently for no real reason.
