What if you don't want a dirty, injured dog in your vehicle... does that make you a bad person?

ftr I wouldn't have stopped.

Wait....

Stopping for an injured dog is a requirement for being human, yet you are sorry that he had to do it?

Youre apologizing that this guy did, what was in your opinion, a basic human action. That doesnt make sense to me.

Not looking for a pat on the back, I figure most posters here would do the same. I just wanted to express my disgust at how many people drove by without stopping.

As for pick'em, I'm not doing too well. This week's college pick'em is pretty tough.

I would stop and help it. FYI, the first thing you should do is wrap/tie something soft around its jaws so it doesn't bite you.

You're lucky you didn't get bit BTW. Hurt dogs are very prone to biting people who are trying to move them.

This. My sister's dog was an absolute sweetheart. She got hit by a car and when my sister tried to pick her up she bit the fire out of her.

congrats to you, and a great deed done. I love dogs and have a soft spot for them. But if im being completely honest, i cant be late for work for stopping to get a dog that isnt mine.

Everyone has a different situation. I'm sure plenty really can't afford to, some could be late most of the time without consequence (me), some will say they can't when really they can't be bothered to help, etc.

Both jaws were fractured, so biting wasn't an issue. The vet thought the dog's head was hit by the car.

Good advice on the jaw wrapping.

I didn't know stopping to pick up a dirty, possibly rabid dog was a requirement for being a good person.

Do you stop whenever someone runs over a squirrel? A snake?

did this in college once for a cat. it was hit right by the circle K in Tigerland and no one was stopping to get it. i got out, ran inside to get a circle K bag, picked it up and brought it to LSU vet school.

they could have done surgury etc, but i would have had to pay, which i didn't have money for. they claimed to hold it for a couple days, but would have to put it down if no one claimed it.

still think about that to this day, it meowing and shite in my truck. but man it was pitiful watching it crawl to the side of the ride with its front legs avoiding cars and no one stopped to help.

glad you stopped and helped the dog. at least it isn't suffering any longer.
