NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer: Gulf of Mexico 2018
From April 11 to May 3, 2018, NOAA and partners will conduct the Gulf of Mexico 2018 expedition, a mission on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer to collect critical baseline information about unknown and poorly understood deepwater areas in the Gulf of Mexico. Check the expedition pages for daily updates, mission logs, images, and videos.

Enjoy!

I was on the Gordan Gunter in college, one of the best experiences of my life.

Lol at times I found myself holding my breath. It's as if I could almost feel the pressure of being that far down in the water haha

About half a PSI per foot. Our ROVs could go down to 10,000 ft. Around 5,000 psi squeezing on it at that depth

this is all smoke and mirrors, first place they will head to is DWH to document more environmental damage to justify extracting more $ out of BP...

Really close. 14.7 psi every 33 feet so 4456 psi

On subs we used 44 psi for every 100ft... which is pretty much the exact same.

I’d like to see a giant squid or giant jellyfish

Good rule of thumb. In water, you gain 1 atmosphere of pressure for every 33 feet in depth.
1 atm = 14.7 psi = 760 mm Hg
