And neither would a group of southerner cadets with a confederate flag.

They would have been drummed out of The Point within 24 hours and their lives and careers ruined.

So he mentions black people fighting for the right to be treated equally and the "white version" of that in your mind is nazis? Wow.

I would be surprised if the majority of them were still on active duty 6 years from now....

Corporations work hard to recruit service academy grads and offer big bucks to persuade them to leave the service. I agree with you. The vast majority of these young ladies will voluntarily leave military service as soon as they are able, but, not because the Army wants them gone, but, rather, because they will accept extremely lucrative offers for civilian employment from Corporate America. They will leave the Army for a HUGE pay increase.

BUT, any of them that remain on active duty are practically guaranteed to make O-6 Colonel rank.

For some reason I doubt this group will be raising their fists or their weapons to fight for our freedom.

What a waste of space at the USMA.

Love the way you try to conceal your hypocrisy, yet can't.

I didn't think they would be punished and don't really think they should be, beyond corrective training ( take 'em out back and smoke the dogshit out of them), but the people claiming white guys could get away with holding rebel flags are full of it. In the units I served in, soldiers were not even permitted to display them in their barracks rooms. And I'm talking about 19 year old enlisted guys, not fricking West Point ring knockers.

I still remember the fallout from this picture:

I don't see why this is a huge deal. Young people do stupid stuff, hell old people do stupid stuff. I'd hate to live in a society that screws you over for making an error in judgement once.

It's not a big deal to me either which is why I said I didn't think they deserved any real punishment. I just find it interesting as someone who spent years going to Army EO classes.

Yeah, I don't want to see them get any positive PR, don't get me wrong but making a big deal out of it seems like it's giving them what they want.

They'll grow out of it.

Are you comfy with different standards of behavior expected of Soldiers based on Race?

Are you comfy that a 19 year old white Private is held to a higher standard of good judgment than an African American female West Point cadet?

Are you comfy that a 20 year old enlisted person entrusted with classified info is held to a higher standard than a female Secretary of State of the USA?

Well, whether you are comfy with any of this or not, it is irrelevant, because this is the New World that we live in -- the world of different standards based on Race and Gender.

Whether any of us like it or not, it is Reality and it's not going away in any of our lifetimes.

Yeah, that photo was definitely against regs and contrary to good order and discipline and everyone of them knew it. What concerns me the most is that not a single one of them were worried about getting called on it. They already know that certain regs don't apply to them.

I've come to accept that we will forever have different standards of behavior, for soldiers and civilians. I've gotten over the anger phase, I'm in acceptance. It's the way of the world.

None of those Marines or their command were dealt anything from this. Maybe a talking to but no reprimand or reliefs from this. Only thing was that ridiculous heritage brief video from Gen Amos. And that was a shock with how big of a blowhard we had at the helm of the Marine Corps at the time.

I meant the internet fallout, which admittedly, didn't lead to much. I just suspect that many of the same people who are defending these cadets were the same people calling for the scout snipers heads.
