I'm sure Audie had done something unbecoming before doing that act.
How can you be so sure?
The record (which is all we have to go by) is that Audie Murphy was an exemplary soldier in every way. They didn't hand out all those decorations and award battlefield commissions to soldiers who did "unbecoming things".

This is so not a big deal. The OT masses love to complain about liberals who get offended or upset Unless of course, it's the OT conservative masses themselves being offended or rustled by a statement of some sort. So much rustle in this thread that I can hear it.
The hard right on this board are basically the SJW of the other side.
"Oh my god they are coming for our guns and bibles"
This is just people celebrating their collective history. History not hate folks

The numbers fluctuate, but around 10-15% of each entering class are prior enlisted, ie, veterans.

Has anybody mentioned "cultcha"?
And I'm sure they met the same admission standards as their co-eds.

What does that have to doing with being "offended?"

I only meant two or more black people standing together make a "group". Not that they have officially segregated groups. I'm unaware of they do.
This obviously was. That pic covers 16 out of 17 black female seniors. If that's not an officially segregated group, it will do until an officially segregated group comes along.
Pathetic response from the academy.

But this is one of many times the same group of people get upset over nothing.
This, to me, would be like a group Texan West Point grads taking picture with the Texas flag.
It's not like they were tossing gang signs.

This pic and the response by WP is further evidence as to why it always will be USMC>>>>>>>>>Army

Wasn't this started by Jesse Owens as a symbol of victory? I'm may be wrong on my history but I am a straight white male that doesn't get offended by everything I see. So naturally this picture bothers me about as much as a group of college kids making peace signs.

Black female cadets taking a photo is a segregated group? Lol. It's a photo shoot to commemorate a shared struggle. I really doubt they segregated themselves while at the academy.

All black female cadets of the same class taking a photo, isn't a segregated group?

quote:No, it wasnt. Also, how a symbol started does not really matter. It is how it is perceived. For example, this is a symbol of good fortune and well-being:

In no way am I comparing the symbols. Only showing how something starts is completely irrelevant.

That symbol is widely used in Asian cultures to this very day.

I think the main issue with this thread is posters are trying to give the cadets the same "rights" as everyday college civilians. They think they are being good libertarians by saying nothing should be done. The military people in this thread understand certain civilian rights are lost when you join the military. There are simple rules you must follow or face discipline. And nobody should be above those rules.
However, for some reason, disagreeing with West Points decision somehow makes us "offended." I have yet to see someone claiming this explain how that makes any sense
