That was the icing on the cake of the plea deal. Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile requires registration as a sex offender. Obscenity does not. Also doesnt require mandatory jail time.

Evidently so...didn't the DA in Jefferson Parish say he hadn't decided if he was even going to charge the two ? I mean with the evidence AND a video...it looks like they will both avoid jail time. The lose of teaching credentials and reputation (LOL) is about all they will get.

Honestly, I've got no issue with her avoiding jail time if the act was truly consensual (which I can't imagine it wasn't!!!). HOWEVER, the same should apply to a male teacher if he had truly consensual sex with a female student of the same age as the one this woman had sex with.
There is a complete double standard in these situations:
Male teacher? He should be banished to the depths of hell
Female teacher? Guys are lining up to get her phone number.
If you're going to punish, at least be consistent

As much as their shouldn't be a difference, there is a slight difference.
Our society is largely patriarchal and we as men have long used our clout and power, through religion, politics, sex, employment, etc to subjugate women to whatever we wanted.
We have reaped what we sowed, in the a larger sense. Doesn't excuse her heinous actions, but it gives a backdrop for why it would maybe be deemed worse had the genders been reversed. It's not women's faults that we decided to act how we did
