There is no reason he needed to shoot him point blank and kill him. Look I know people say, "well don't resist and you won't get shot!" I used to be one of those people. But then I realized I was practically a hippocrite. You see stories of stupid college kids and frat guys running from police and resisting all the time! You would never imagine a cop killing them for that. My brother has been guilty of running and resisting with drugs in his possession as well when he was at LSU. He got his arse beat by the cop I'll say though. (Well deserved) I can not even fathom if a cop would've shot him for that. I have a much different outlook on situations like this now, after checking myself. This kids life should not have been lost.

He wasn't using the car as a weapon in the video. He was trying to use it to get away. Shouldn't be shot for that, unless maybe the kid just Committed an armed robbery

Cop really needs to learn how to pick his battles, get the plate and pick him up later or get authorization to chase him.

This is such a typical OT redneck southern response. The kid did not deserve to die for ANYTHING involving drugs. The drug war is such an obvious cash grab it's hilarious. The cops life wasn't in danger he just wanted to use his gun. We are one step short of a police state.

Look, frickwhit. I'm not touting this as the best case scenario.
But when one starts compounding terrible life choices, one's odds of an untimely demise compounds as well. If those terrible choices have led to criminal activity, there's a significant chance that end will involve law enforcement, in one form or another.
So, while it could have been handled better, I'm not going the saddle with guilt the involved party that is actively contributing to society.

That said, I can see it either way. The kid drives off and they pick him up down the road. No big deal.
Officer thinks he's in danger of the car running him over after commanding him to stop.
Wasn't an officer killed in Oxford, MS a few years back when he tried to get a drunk driver to turn off the car and the guy drove away, running him over?

Yep, that was it. A drunk fratstar at Ole Miss was trying to flee a DWI stop and killed the officer.
