Should have just shot the guy. Saves time and money.

From a legal standpoint, if you feel someone is a threat, you must shoot to kill them. So for a cop to get away with murdering people to fulfill their blood lust, they must always say that they are threatened as the reason to why they shoot.

Cops have shot teens answering the door, b/c of fearing for their life. Cops have shot an 95+ year old man with a butter knife, because they were fearing for their life. Cops have shot dogs wagging their tail, because (can you guess it?) they feared for their life.

So basically cops are trained to murder people if they are a treat. No using common sense and teamwork to subdue the guy. For a supposedly 1st world country, the USA are lacking in how the police deals with their citizens.

That you have twice as many downvotes as upvotes for this rational and thoughtful post should tell you everything you need to know. People in this country have no ability or desire to stand up and say something is wrong and demand change, and they obviously have no value for human life. If they did, we would elect legislators who cared more about the lives of their citizens than the support of police unions and the law enforcement establishment.

Also, I know there are some awesome dudes in LE and these situations hurt their reputation as well, as they all get lumped into one category.

The issue with the "awesome dudes" is that they are complicit with this type of behavior because they and their unions defend it.

If you read stories about police and fireman both of which are supposed to be public servants that signed up for a job knowing the inherent risk, it is apparent they have really different ideas about how they should deal with that risk.

The cop " I couldn't take a chance,I feared for my life, I have a right to go home at night"

The Fireman "I knew there was a good chance the building might collapse, and I could be killed, but I am paid to take that chance."

If there is a story about a cop and a dog, the cop has killed the dog. If there is a story about a fireman and a dog the fireman has rescued the dog.

Yeah, frick that.

I don't expect any cop to try to take down a man wielding a machete. That was incredibly stupid and dangerous. That's a great situation for a taser though.

frick you and your bullshite "blood lust" by cops.

It looks to me like the police violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by not providing reasonable accommodations to a disabled person.

Yeah, the "I will do anything to not get injured or killed" attitude needs to be eliminated in law enforcement. You don't see this attitude in fire departments or the military.

At least they convicted the a-hole who murdered the black guy running away in one of the Carolinas.

Only because there was video of the cop shooting him in the back and planting a gun on him.

Without the cell phone video, that cop is probably a Ltn by now. His own body cam was malfunctioning that day.

Yup. WIthout the video, there’s no evidence to show what he did along with any intent. Just like we can’t convict a person of a crime without proof, be it video, physical, or testimonial.
