A nicotinic hypothesis for Covid-19 with preventive and therapeutic implications
Abstract
Ok I’m going to need someone who understands receptors far better than me to see if this is all bull shite because, this sounds like bull shite
ETA
And I only heard about this through word of mouth. Literally every other thing I saw that mentioned covid-19 and smoking says it’s bad for you and puts you at greater risk.

SARS-CoV-2 epidemics raises a considerable issue of public health at the planetary scale. There is a pressing urgency to find treatments based upon currently available scientific knowledge. Therefore, we tentatively propose a hypothesis which hopefully might ultimately help saving lives. Based on the current scientific literature and on new epidemiological data which reveal that current smoking status appears to be a protective factor against the infection by SARS-CoV-2 [1], we hypothesize that the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) plays a key role in the pathophysiology of Covid-19 infection and might represent a target for the prevention and control of Covid-19 infection.

Just do it. Buy a pack of cowboy killers, a can of Copenhagen long cut, some hydroxywhatever, and smother yourself in garlic oil. You'll be fine but you'll smell like shite.

Smokers less likely to be hospitalized.
The data is just the opposite of what everyone says
Only 1.3% of Covid cases are current smokers

If this doesn’t tell you that nobody knows a god damn thing about this virus, nothing will.

I've been following nicotine microdosing for awhile. Have never done it. But yeah I read a hypothesis about this when they were learning (I'm sure experts already knew but I was learning) about the ACE2 inhibitor pathways yada yada (medically words) re COVID 19, back in Feb.
It made sense. Nicotine isn't the physically bad part of tobacco use. It takes a lot for it to be toxic.
