The next Superman movie will have a black Superman so I fully expect in the next black panther to have a white black panther. The rock as Superman and carrot top as black panther

Isn't it pretty easy to just come up with a new character who is like Superman, but black, instead of...this?

Real superheroes don't claim a race or gender.

There already are a few that fit that, plenty of black representation in the comic book, superhero world.

I'm sure it will be atrocious like every other DC property that Warner makes. Marvel will make a movie about some obscure superhero nobody has ever heard of and it'll make a billion dollars. Meanwhile WB is like "Hmmmm... what else. Oh, here you go. Black Superman."

Disney should just buy DC comics too and let Kevin Fiege put Batman in an Avengers or X-Men movie. I don't think there's any other way to save them.

I'm guessing they aren't popular? So...lets force it on everyone by making an established hero black? Sounds like a winner

I'm not sure. But Calvin Ellis is the actual black superman from the comics. He's the multiverse version of him.

Oh,fun tip, he was based off of President Obama.

Didn’t they have Hancock? Are they going to do every Super hero with a different, race, or gender? Hollywood must be completely out of ideas...

This is my beef with the matter. It's incredibly lazy from a creative standpoint and shows that studios want to have their cake and eat it, too.

Executives say they want to correct social wrongs and promote diversity with this move, yet they still want to bank on the weight of the "Superman" name. If they had any balls and wanted to spur change, they'd put out the effort to create a new black superhero and let the chips fall where they may at the box office.

It's one thing to have a storyline progress into a black lead such as they did with Captain America because it actually had comic book basis and the backstory was believable. But to literally take a specific super hero and straight out change his race to black is just dumb. Now you gotta explain to kids what happened to superman, because you know they are going to ask why he's black now.

Calvin Ellis

I know just enough about super heroes to be dangerous, but I see the Kal El (Calvin Ellis)...is this the exact same origin, etc... or should I not ask about the multiverse vortex of weirdness?

"Multiverses" are just a bunch of bullshite to help comic writers get out of jams caused by continuity issues.

So rather than being raised by a childless couple on a farm in Kansas, will he be raised by a single teenage mother in Detroit?
