Yes. Several people in the comments on twitter said it appears to be a whitetip in the video.

Cannot believe a paid booze cruise is not required by insurance to have a skiff on board that can be launched.

Don't think I have ever seen a skiff on any of the big catamarans or boats that do booze cruises to beaches or snorkeling excursions. They always do a safety talk before they leave, it should be pretty obvious you don't jump off a commercial boat while drinking.

The haunting video footage showed Robbins after he jumped overboard, allegedly because he was dared to do so, and his peers and witnesses could be heard panicking in the background. He appeared to be swimming beside the boat for a short while, and a buoy was seen tossed in the water, but it appeared the current may have been too strong and pulled him away
"or he was pulled under by something else."

I believe this less than I do the veracity of the famous Bigfoot video

Are you just fricking with everyone in here about sharks being a confirmed fact? You have to be

Because you're not supposed to jump off the boat! You can't prevent a random irresponsible act. One kid jumped off the boat. Numerous others did not. It's tragic and its sad, but no amount of insurance or regulations will save someone who does something this foolish. And I don't believe the operator should be held liable for the kid jumping overboard and/or not saving him.

Would you feel the same way if someone was smoking weed in the same instance?

No one wants to smell your weed at a kid's birthday party. Take an edible like a responsible adult.

I found it. Page 33.

The video does help put some context behind the situation. First is looks like he is in the water shirtless maybe even naked. 2. his friends were shocked he jump in the water given their audio reaction and 3. it appears from the video that it was his all his bad decision to jump...a horrible decision...probably very drunk.

Damn it. I feel so bad for this kid and family. Probably a really good kid that just made a very costly stupid decision. Wrong time. Wrong place. Just horrible.

IDK about all the shark stuff. Really hard to tell.

But if there were sharks near, probably mako, white tip, hammer head, or tiger.

I took the same class at USL before I worked a summer job offshore in between semesters. One of the techniques they taught us was using pants as a floatation device. It would be easier for you to YouTube it than for me to explain.

I learned this technique in life guard school summer before 9th grade.

Liable for the kid jumping off, no, but for the captain not making every possible effort to save him, yes. The captain is responsible for all souls onboard. Bad decisions or not, MOB procedures such as marking with the MOB button/ immediately coming about/putting all available crew on alert to track the MOB and relay relative positions to the captain….maybe they did and maybe they didn’t…but it’s 100% on the captain and his actions once notified of a MOB situation. Depending on Bahamian law, could be his employers problem too.

I don’t need anyone to confirm what I saw with my own eyes. It’s on page 30.

While this is tragic-it is not the Captain’s fault for an 18ish year old jumping overboard on a dare. The Captain could only do so much. Unfortunately, the fault lies with the kid who jumped bc he was intoxicated and thought it was a good idea to take a dare. While I feel extremely bad for this family, they will feel the pain forever bc of his actions. And yes, I went to u-high so I am sorry for their loss.

The oceanic whitetip lives in equatorial waters across the globe and is notorious for attacking humans. I haven't watched the video, but it wouldn't surprise me.

He was no longer on board, though.
