You edited your post to ask if I was 12. I know you won't see the irony here

Yes, after I hit submit I wondered if you were 12.

If you want to talk about the Madison case go to that thread and stop trying to derail this one.

Suddenly some of you don’t care very much about the family reading bs on the OT. Imagine that.

I don't think anything will be proven by the videos online. Seems like 50/50 whether it was sharks or not.

Because it was dark out, he was drunk, and in an ocean with a strong current. What the frick is so hard to understand about that? Do y'all really think the ring was that easy to spot and swim toward with all the other factors in play?

You can definitely tell from the video that those kids were pretty drunk
My only thing is if it was a shark he didn't seem to react like it - he would have been in desperation mode at that point and he was just calmly in the water but if drunk maybe he was just unaware of everything around him

I don't think he would have seen the shark or maybe even the life ring to be honest. He's at water level in the dark and not much light around.

The video seems to be one of those where if you want to see a shark you see one. If you don't, you don't

I just don't see how a shark would have attacked this kid and there be no thrashing, fighting, or blood in the water. Sharks don't pull you under like that.

Did anyone in the video yell “SHARK”!? Cuz I think maybe I would have if I saw one.

How do we know this? did sharks take part in a taste test or submit reviews to yelp

it's not that sharks don't like the "taste" of humans, its that they don't like the composition of the human body... large bones, not very fatty, unlike their typical diets of seals, sea lions, etc...

there was no shark in the video and this was NOT a shark attack scenario.... this was a drunk guy jumping off a boat, unfamiliar with his surroundings and the vessel he was traveling on, thinking he could just get back on the boat in the back, but when we went towards the back of the boat, a combo of not being a very good drunk swimmer, along with the powerful wake the boat produced, swept him out to sea.... in the dark, where no one could see and he simply drowned...

sad story, but the truth is much simpler than what some here are trying to make it out to be...

Disoriented from what? He willingly jumped in the water. There would be no shock.

I wish they would find him so the family could begin to move through what will likely be very long stages of grief. On the other hand, I don't know what condition he would be in. I don't know what's worse. It's such a terrible situation.

I hope the family can get spiritual and emotional counseling to help them deal with this if that's possible.

Wtf are you talking about?

No one has been right or wrong in here regarding a shark because the videos aren't clear on that. Just because you agree with some random Twitter account and some people on reddit doesn't make it so.

There's nothing to derail in here because the story ended days ago unless some new video or relevant information comes out.

This is pretty much my opinion.

The kid was drunk on a loud boat with bright, multi-colored, flashing LED lights. When he chose to jump off he hit the water, went under, and when he came up was likely immediately disoriented. He was still drunk and had been plunged into a situation where he lost his bearings. Back at the boat it was still loud and the lights were still flashing and changing colors every few seconds throwing shadows and changing the view from the water entirely every few seconds, especially for a drunk person. Throw in the fact that he probably had no telling how many people all yelling different stuff at him, and he likely had no clue which way was up or down.

It was a snowball of the worst case scenario that began with his choice to jump from a boat in the ocean at night.

That is definitely the waves bouncing off the bow of that boat.
