Dude he was just being a kid. There was no social media aspect it was barely even filmed

Yah the vocal reaction of his mates seems to indicate that they all saw the sharks at the same time that young Cam did. It's very sad.

i would have taken my chances fighting a couple sharks to reach the life preserver over spending the night in open water, provided the current allowed him to swim in that direction

My daughter is friends with Cam and has so far avoided seeing the video, thankfully. It's pretty messed up that people are posting it - sharing a kids last moments on the internet for clout. People are gross.

Also didn't look like the boat was moving fast or at all, contrary to other reports.
He went from swimming relatively easily to gone in about 10 seconds. Something pulled him under.

is it better for all the uhigh moms to share it in group texts? cause that’s how I saw it a couple days ago

"He was just being a kid" doesn't excuse being stupid and jumping overboard which was basically a suicide attempt. Now if he was pushed off, I'd feel sympathy for him. But as far as the rumors go, he willingly jumped off to impress a bunch of friends. And he didn't seem to give a shite based on the video footage. I'm sorry but I have a hard time feeling for sympathy someone who does something as stupid as that.

Yes, that is my impression too.
I just wish he would have stayed on course for that life buoy.

Someone has already mentioned whitetips (oceanic?), but I reckon bull sharks are in that area too. Bull sharks are also known to be aggressive.
Yes. Notorious “ship followers”. Bulls and Tigers too.

Yeah one of the subreddits had a conversation about military man overboard drills on different ships using a dummy and was talking about how it was pretty much a guaranteed fail if they did them at night. Just too easy to lose track of the person once the large turns started.

Thank you. Tiresome are the folks on here saying they've seen the video because its being "shared by every teen in baton rouge", but its a step to far to post on TD.
I finally saw the video on reddit. Its not gory and shows nothing graphic. Its saddening to know that was his life's last minutes.
I've seen countless videos showing far worse on here over the years.

I feel terrible for the kid's family, friends etc. I have kids around that age too.
I think humans generally have a desire to determine what happened and how it happened during a terrible tragedy/accident.

1) joe Namath offered a 100k reward for their return. He personally knew them.
2) why are you so dramatic?

No family should have to travel in/out of the country for something so terrible. I can’t even imagine.
One of my best friends passed when we were in school and his dad was overseas on a work trip. I’ll never forget thinking about how miserable I was at the time and what he had to have been like on an overseas flight back home.
Awful.

A little less word salad, please.
If I do understand what you’re trying to say, you are likely wrong. It looks like something drug his lower extremities down.

The video I saw seemed like the kids were mostly concerned. People were telling him to go to the buoy. Some guy was saying he was gone, and while it was harsh, he was drunkenly correct.
