Not surprised. America acted the same was after 9/11 and Baton Rouge acted the same way after Katrina.

It's really sad; New Zealand and Australia had probably the bravest fighting forces in both WWI and WWII. Times change.

I've got a childhood friend who's lived there for ten years now. He explained that it's much like the US...the progressive nutjobs are concentrated in the few major cities, but the rest of the country is pretty self-reliant and conservative. It's just that the nutjobs control the media and the government right now.
