I don’t like the fact you can pop open the top using something as simple as a pen.

I don’t need some sicko messing with stuff I wash my body with…

This is a stretch, but maybe the hospitality industry benefits from this law by reducing operating costs. A way for them to save money under the guise of greenness. Maybe?

I've thought about this too. Nothing to stop a previous guest from putting whatever they want in those bottles.

A lot of hotels have already done away with those anyways. They just put those refill bottles in the holder on the shower wall. Not a bad idea actually.

You know, they can just put large refillable containers of soap and shampoo in the shower

One Marriott guest shared an experience much worse.

At this property, in the shower are three large toiletry bottles – soap, shampoo and conditioner. After using them for several days it was noticed that the soap bottle had the tamper proof bracket removed. On closer inspection, the bottle was filled mostly with water, and what looked like semen. This bottle was then compared to with the soap in the other room and it was very evidently tampered with

I get what you are saying, but I present you with this scenario. Guest leaves small bottles on bathroom counter that appear "untouched and unused" when they check out. How confident are you the housekeeper throws them out and replaces them with new bottles before you check in?

There are sick people out there.

i get the fact that it doesn't really impact much, that the pumps are everywhere anyway. My point is the legislature, with all the shite show that New York is, wasted time creating a law about shampoo bottles.....

Illegal aliens from China and terrorist from the Middle East demand $100 full bottles of shampoo to be available as their disposal. And bring them a new iPhone 15 in your delivery.
Now- all you dumb arse flag waving American Citizens get back to f-cking work so your government can steal more of your money and give it to foreign enemies that invade your country.

I don't care. I much rather the dispensers anyway.
Me too, but my wife hates them...thinks that people could sabotage them or something. Make her hair fall out or give her cooties. I dont know why shehas a single thought about them, she brings her own crap anyway.

Most hotels have dispensers in the showers now from what I can tell.

This is discriminating against little people. How do you expect them to get those hands around a full-sized bottle of shampoo.

At least the dispensers weren't empty or broken.

Not to sidetrack, but New York is waaaayy cleaner and safer than it’s been in the past. Some of us are old enough remember how New York used to be. Like the 70s for example when it wasn’t safe to walk through Times Square or half the rest of the city.

And most hotels I’ve been to lately have the bigger bottles attached to the shower wall.

Seems like the dispensers would save on a lot of waste and less plastic to throw away.

Hotels have full sized pump bottles attached to the wall for all that stuff now.

Less plastic waste. I don't see a problem.

And as you can see by all the replies, your overreaction was uncalled for and silly.
