They should hire a dietitian. Any buffoon can be a nutritionist, a dietitian has to be licensed and many have masters degrees.

Doesn’t the Mormon church own a bunch of stock in Coca Cola?
Always been the rumor I've heard, but strangely they've never let me look at their stock holdings .

Good. They should be drinking water.
And eating rice, beans, and spam. That's all that should be allowed. Also, should have an EBT aisle of only that.

I'd be ok with fresh fruits and vegetables on the list. Many are remarkably inexpensive.

It is easy just allow raw products to be purchased.
Raw meats and fish; staples like flour, sugar, corn meal, spices, herbs, cooking oils, bread, etc.; raw fruits and vegetables frozen, refrigerated, or in cans can be pre cut, but not heavily processed or turned into something else; dairy products like milk, cheese, butter, margarine, etc.; and canned goods or shelf stable goods used for cooking like tomato sauce, pasta, broths, tuna fish, etc.
What is not on the list, any frozen meals, pizza, chips, sodas, water, flavored water, candy, quick meals, cookies, sugary snacks, and anything else identifiable as junk food.
Also, items should have a food stamp limit. Items purchased with food stamps cannot exceed a certain amount by category, and the difference is paid by the food stamp user. Like a meat purchase might include the first 10 dollars.
That way you stop people who use food stamps for bulk purchases for nefarious purposes like reselling food cooked with food stamps.
I also posted a few weeks ago instead of going to a regular store for purchases why not create a food stamps store like an Alabama ABC store that just sells staples and none of the other junk food items not purchase able with food stamps.
You can maybe work with food banks to coordinate this and merge the donation power of a food bank with a retail operation for food stamp purchases.

The last time a thread like this was started, a bunch of people came into the thread to claim it is “big govt” and “anti-freedom” to support restrictions like this. Most of these posters were from NOLA, north BR, Shreveport, etc.
Since it is the government's (our) money that they are spending, the government (we) have every right to place restrictions on how it should be spent.
This should be done nationwide. Nothing wrong with drinking water, and it's better for you. Do junk food next.

Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables. There, that should cover about 95% of SNAP.

While I agree with what your getting at here, what about peanut butter? Higley processed, but relatively inexpensive while nutrient and protein dense. It's also good for diabetes management.
Thoughts?

Good point. Probably so. I would consider it a staple since you can use peanut butter to also cook. Not everything is on the food naughty list.
I wonder if big food would have a fit if you threw in a requirement that you had to buy a store brand or generic items instead of name brand items.

Cuz of course there were. Do these people know they can buy whatever they want with their own money, and the restrictions are attached to what they can buy with my money? And it's intended to help ensure we pay for less of their needs (namely: healthcare) with my money?
