Looks like the GFS is drunk.

It has that late June system flying up the Gulf of Mexico and saying no to Louisiana at the last minute and swings down to Brownsville.

2. Southwestern Gulf of Mexico:
A broad area of low pressure could form over the weekend across the
southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Environmental conditions appear
conducive for some slow development early next week while the
system moves slowly westward or west-northwestward.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.

Let the madness begin.

We all know it is Aug/Sept that the northern Gulf Coast has to be vigilant.

Stop the fear mongering. Elderly people who don’t know any better practically panic when they see this.

The GFS (12z run) continues the idea of a strong tropical storm/minimal Cat 1 hurricane making landfall somewhere along the northern gulf coast the weekend after next (June 22nd-23rd). Latest run has it making landfall on the central Louisiana coast

It doesn't have much ensemble support at all right now for a northern Gulf landfall.

How come the operational shows it if it doesn’t have much ensemble support? Genuine question, how is this possible?
